I'm producing a new documentary about...you know...I was hoping you might share the info below with your organizations, the larger community if its appropriate, and anyone else you think might be interested. The main topic is infrastructure and sanitation alternatives, but there's a hefty section about pediatric constipation as well, could be interesting for this group especially.

This is Shawn from the People's Own Organic Power Project, or The POOP Project. We're very excited to announce the premiere of a new documentary, free online, with generous support from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Foundation's Grassroots Initiative program. 

FLUSH - The Documentary is the surprising story of what happens after we “go," and a growing movement to change the way we think about waste. It's going to be free online from Nov. 15 - 21 in honor of World Toilet Day--designated by the United Nations to raise awareness of the urgent global need for safe, dignified sanitation. 

It may be an uncomfortable topic, but it's no laughing matter. As massive sewage overflows in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico have reminded us recently, sanitary infrastructure is critical to healthy communities. Yet 40 million people in the US live in cities with regular sewage overflows, and almost all Americans are still wasting more water down their toilet than anywhere else. The time has come to Follow the Flush, and find a better way!  www.thepoopproject.org/FLUSH  

We'd love for this film to get out there and help start this important though uncomfortable conversation. Jews, right? We own a fair amount of stock in uncomfortable conversations. But one of our traditions most beautiful, healing blessings is said for the bathroom. Rabbis in the Talmud openly debate whether bowel movements break Shabbat. And D'varim--the TORAH!-- tells the Hebrews exactly how to poop at camp. 

If Moses can do it, we can, too. In the name of our ancestors, please:

1. Watch FLUSH. It'll be online free from Nov 15 - 21. Just one hour long. Great for staff professional development! Discussion questions are online, and we're developing more resources for the long-term. We'd love to know your thoughts on the film the accompanying materials, and how we might further support you in using FLUSH! (And if you do want to attempt a more public event, check out our screening guide for help.)

2. Invite your communities to see FLUSH. We know it's not an easy topic to talk about, so we've compiled a folder of resources for you. There is newsletter text help you find the words, and easy images to download. There's also a handy spreadsheet updated daily with the latest from our Twitter, FB and Instagram to make it easy for you to share, RT, etc to tell your communities about #WorldToiletDay. With promotional contests from Squatty Potty, you might want to play, too! Again, that folder is here.
