Dear J-LINCers,
First and foremost, our team would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful 5775!
We look forward to coming together as a community of practice on Monday, October 6, 9:30 am - 2:00 pm, at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in SoHo: 103 Charlton Street (1 train to Houston Street / C or E to Spring Street). Please RSVP to Rachel to confirm your participation!

In advance of the gathering, we ask that you create a Reflection Page for the book that you purchased (with your Amazon gift card). The Reflection Page will allow you to share with your peers about how the book has shaped your understanding of J-LINC-related material. To jump start your reflection process, please consider the following questions and pick one or two to respond to:
§ How did the book shift your thinking or change your point of view, if at all? § What aspects of the book did you find most intriguing? Why do you think that is? § Did any of the content connect to your own life experiences? § Can you describe one new concept you learned from this book? § What visual symbol or metaphor best demonstrates the main concept or idea of your book? § What elements of the book are immediately applicable to your work with families? § What did you learn about yourself (or about human behavior) from participating in this reading assignment?
Prepare your reflection page on a large sheet of paper (ideally legal size or larger; flip chart paper is fine). Your reflection can take the form of a written paragraph and/or some visual images that help you convey your thoughts. Feel free to use colored markers or any other creative elements to help you communicate your reflective response.
Be sure to bring both your book and your completed Reflection Page to the CoP gathering! We will view everyone’s pages as part of a connection activity at the Children’s Museum of Art.
Last but not least, remember to have fun with this assignment! J

Kol tuv and l’hitraot,
The J-LINC Team
Hi all – I just wanted to clarify that the book “assignment” is not meant to be overwhelming, but rather an informal, creative framework for reflection and sharing that we developed with the help of Deb Krivoy. We recognize what a busy time it is for all of you; if you can take 15 minutes to write/illustrate a reflection, that’s great, and if not, we are happy to have you share as part of the discussion! Thanks and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Wishing you the sweetest 5775,
Rachel
