The Academy for Jewish Religion will be hosting a half-day conference in mid-July that will model how to integrate the arts into Jewish education. See below for more information:
If you are interested in the place of the arts in Jewish Education, then I warmly invite you to register for The Academy for Jewish Religion’s Half Day Sacred Arts Conference on Kabbalah and the Arts which will take place on Sunday, July 13 from 1:30 – 5:30 pm in our Bet Midrash in Yonkers in southern Westchester ($18 in advance; $25 at the door).
AJR is bringing in renowned Hebrew University professor Melila Hellner-Eshed, an expert in the Zohar, and a scholar who is brilliant, a fantastic speaker, and who embodies a wonderful combination of academic rigor and spiritual awareness. Melila has been a featured instructor at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and at The Hartman Institute. There will also be opportunities to interpret Melila’s insights through the arts with Rabbis Jill Hammer and Hanniel Levenson and master chant composer, Shir Yaakov Feit, as well as a chance to study Zohar text with Rabbi Jeff Hoffman.
This will be an amazing half day of Jewish study and experience and if you will be able to join us, you owe it to yourself to be there! This is also an ideal opportunity to introduce serious, high level, study of Jewish mysticism to a congregant, student, or friend.
