Re: 'Can't find named resource: packsLang.xml & packsLang.xml_eng' while installing

There are several warnings of that kind but I haven't recognized an aborting installation in the latest tests.
Can you please provide a stacktrace by adding -DSTACKTRACE=true to the command line.

When trying to install via command line using the current 5.0.0.-rc5-Snapshot (izpack-installer-5.0.0-rc5-20150227.180304-16.jar) the installer is starting to unpack the files, a error comes up saying: 'Can't find named resource: packsLang.xml & packsLang.xml_eng.

Re: 'Can't find named resource: packsLang.xml & packsLang.xml_eng' while installing

You should explicitly include the missing resources for the languages you support, example:

Example of install.xml:

    <resources>
        ...
        <res id="packsLang.xml_eng" src="@{izpack.build.directory}/i18n/packsLang.xml_eng"/>
        <res id="packsLang.xml_deu" src="@{izpack.build.directory}/i18n/packsLang.xml_deu"/>
    </resources>

Example contents:

File resource packsLang.xml_eng

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<izpack:langpack version="5.0" xmlns:izpack="http://izpack.org/schema/langpack" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://izpack.org/schema/langpack http://izpack.org/schema/5.0/izpack-langpack-5.0.xsd">
	<str id="pack.application" txt="My Application" />
	<str id="pack.application.description" txt="This pack contains only application files without templates." />
	<str id="pack.templates" txt="Application templates" />
	<str id="pack.templates.description" txt="This pack contains the application templates." />
templates." />
</izpack:langpack>

File resource packsLang.xml_deu

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<izpack:langpack version="5.0" xmlns:izpack="http://izpack.org/schema/langpack" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://izpack.org/schema/langpack http://izpack.org/schema/5.0/izpack-langpack-5.0.xsd">

	<str id="pack.application.description" txt="Dieses Paket enthält nur Anwendungs-Dateien ohne Templates." />
	<str id="pack.storemanagertemplates" txt="Templates" />
	<str id="pack.storemanagertemplates.description" txt="Anwendungs-Templates" />
templates." />
</izpack:langpack>

I'm still not sure why this aborts a console installation and not a GUI installation, there seems to be a flaw in exception handling.
Would not call it a blocker since there is an easy way to solve this.

Thanks a lot for the proposed fix, which actually resolves the problem

For the root cause of this I think the following part of our install.xml may be responsible (We decided to drop German Support somewhere along the way):

  <locale>
    <langpack iso3="eng" />
    <!-- <langpack iso3="deu"/> -->
  </locale>

this has been working up to 5.0.0-rc3 where izpack silently falls back to the information in the packs section:

  <packs>
    <pack id="pack.tomcat" name="Tomcat 8 Application Server" required="yes">
      <description>The Tomcat ${version.tomcat} Web Application Server.</description>
     ...
    </pack>
    <pack id="pack.klaros" name="Klaros-Testmanagement ${project.version}" required="yes">
