To skip translation, in the list on the lower right, select Not now to skip translation or Never translate [Language] to never have the panel appear when you go to a page using that language.

Inside the address bar, you'll briefly see the status showing that the page has been translated.

If you select the translate icon in the address bar, the menu that appears also shows the status.

To be honest - I hate the "Mini menu on text selection" on edge. I have turned it off because it was annoying me as hell. Most of the time (99% of the time) when I select the text - I want to copy it, but because this mini menu pops up - it loses focus of the text, and hitting Ctrl-C won't do anything. I would suggest either disabling this feature by default or fix the focus lose issue.

Hi @Rachel , thanks but this is what I thought and tried already that combo on pc, but this doesnt help, ctrl and scrollwheel of mouse or +/- are still just zooming the board. My menus keep on neing on small size.

Ok found the issue, it was microsoft edge zoom that was modified but I did not expect it to be tab specific and furthermore it seems to save the setting for miro itself since I restarted the browser and the computer in between...

This is part of an automatic update of Edge which is separate from Windows updates. Automatic updating ( and preventing automatic updating) of Edge was discussed in this thread
-patch-list-updated-as-of-january-10-2023

There are a couple ways to stop Edge from updating:
Rename the default update folder that prevents the update from occurring
or
Disable the services that automatically perform the update
Both can be easily undone to update Edge if you desire.
You can also use a Registry hack to prevent the shortcut from being added when Edge updates if the shortcut addition is your only problem with the Edge updates.

Select Start, type regedit.exe and load the Windows Registry Editor.
Confirm the UAC prompt.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate
Note: if a key does not exist, right-click on the previous one and select New > Key. Name it accordingly and proceed.
Right-click on EdgeUpdate and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
Name it CreateDesktopShortcutDefault.
Double-click on the new Dword and set it to 0, if that is not the case already.
You may also download the following archive. It contains a Registry file that makes the change on the system when executed: edge-block-desktop-shortcuts..

I would also check your MS Edge Profile settings (More Settings Profiles Sync or enter edge://settings/profiles in the address bar and choose Sync) to see if Edge is configured to sync data across devices (i.e., to see if you have a roaming profile stored on the Microsoft servers so your MS Edge settings are identical regardless of which device you sign in to from Edge). See the Softpedia instructions at How to Remove Your Microsoft Edge Data Stored in the Cloud as well as the MS Edge support articles Sign In to Sync Microsoft Edge Across Devices and Reset Microsoft Edge Data in the Cloud.

Is this just an annoyance for you or do you believe this is adding the MS Edge shortcut to the Windows Start menu on your desktop? The How-To Geek article What Is the AppData Folder in Windows? notes that:

If you are awash in shortcuts, Edge and otherwise, delete the shortcuts (.lnk files) and then manually create shortcuts from the .exe files. When programs are uninstalled (or otherwise manipulated), old shortcuts are left in place. Use some caution with this approach.

Not only was I able to find Linux alternatives for ALL of my Winblows software, in a lot of cases it was the same software as a LOT of Opensource software runs on Winblows, Linux and in most cases FreeBSD and Mac OSX also.

Recently, the canvas site has been causing my student navigation bar to keep disappearing whenever I log in. This has made navigating canvas difficult for me. Fortunately, I discovered this is something that happens when I log into my canvas account on the Microsoft edge browser. Does anyone know how to fix this? This has never happened to me in the years I've been using Canvas on my Microsoft edge browser. I would also like to continue using my Canvas account on Microsoft edge because Microsoft edge is where I have an easy time marking up and putting notes on my pdf materials for school.

That is quite strange. I have been using the Edge browser on my Windows 11 laptop for quite a while now, and I've never encountered anything like what you have described. Do you have any extensions installed in Edge that might be preventing the nav panel from showing properly? Have you tried clearing your cache/history, restarting Edge, and then logging back in to Canvas to see if that helps?

Thank you for your reply and I have tried clearing my browser cache before. My initial attempt to try to fix this problem was by calling my schools I.T. department and the person I talked to on the phone recommended I clear my browser cache. Unfortunately, as you can see it didn't work. They said potentially when a new update for the Microsoft edge browser comes up it might fix the issue. But I am hoping I can find a fix before having to wait for whenever an update could be available. I didn't download any extensions before this issue started happening. Also, if I don't find any solutions here, I guess calling canvas support will be my next action.

Thanks for the reply. I know you said that you like using the Edge browser, but have you tried downloading either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to see if the same behavior happens in either of these browsers?

My Chem 1 class has been using Edge to fill in pdfs of lab reports before submitting at Canvas. This week all of the reports look like double exposed pictures. When I download them, they are fine. Students not using Edge do not have these problems. I told students to download the unfilled pdf form, open it in Word, fill it out but save as pdf. Submit this pdf. This works.

Hi there! If you are still looking for a solution to this, click the lines button that looks like this: and appears on the top left when the menu disappears. It's simply hiding the menu to give more space on the screen. Hope that helps!
