Dear all,

This side event on 12th Oct 6 PM onwards,  in Room 3 Hitex-1 Ground level, will focus on the  adverse impacts on Forests, Biodiversity and livelihoods -- of coal as an energy choice of India (as the Govt projects and is pushing forward)..

Four presentations will be there highlighting various aspects of these impacts,
- and also one of these voices will be that of a badly  impacted community - the Fisherfolks of India, represented by National Fishworkers Forum  (NFF) . 

One presentation -- from ICSF -- will also highlight the compound effect of coal energy (which is a major driver of global warming & climate change, apart from other local pollution /contamination / health effects)  -- by presenting the climate change impacts on Indian coasts and on coastal fishers.

Another -- from GreenPeace India -- will highlight the devastating impacts of coal mining on forests, biodiversity and livelihoods, taking case studies from central India and other places.

 All are warmly invited to come & participate -- only those with accreditation / CBD badge will be able to enter the venue - unfortunately.

My colleague Ajay checked, and found the event to be there,  as it was shown earlier asconfirmed.
So, pl do be ready to present on the 12th, in the evening slot (6:15 to 7:45 PM)  in the allotted room.

I reached Hyderabad last (9th) night.  Will be going to the HICC venue today to get regd / badge etc.  My phone is 09213763756.
