The Godhead (Part 4)-Attributes of God

THE NATURE OF GOD, THE GODHEAD

God is MERCIFUL

(Exo 34:5-6 KJV) 

 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there,

and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

 {6} And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed,

The LORD, The LORD God,

merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

 

(Psa 86:3-7 KJV) 

 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.

{4} Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

{5} For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive;

and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

 {6} Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.

 {7} In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee:

 for thou wilt answer me.

 

 

 

 

God is ALL-KNOWING (Acts 2: 23),

 

(Acts 2:21-24 KJV) 

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

 {22} Ye men of Israel, hear these words;

Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs,

which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

{23} Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,

ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

 {24} Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death:

because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

 

God is  SELF-EXISTENT(Jn. 5: 26),

(John 5:25-27 KJV) 

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is,

when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

{26} For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

{27} And hath given him authority to execute judgment also,

 because he is the Son of man.

God is UNCHANGEABLE (Jas. 1: 17),

(James 1:17-20 KJV) 

 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

 and cometh down from the Father of lights,

with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

{18} Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,

that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

{19} Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

 {20} For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

 

God is ALL-POWERFUL (Matt. 19: 26).

(Mat 19:26 KJV) 

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,

With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

 

(Luke 1:37 KJV) 

 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

 

(Jer 32:27 KJV)

  Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh:

is there any thing too hard for me?

 

 God possesses ABSOLUTE HOLINESS (I Pet. 1: 15),

(1 Pet 1:13-16 KJV) 

 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober,

and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

{14} As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

{15} But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

{16} Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

 

(Psa 99:9 KJV) 

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill;

for the LORD our God is holy.

 

God has the power to CALL TO EXISTENCE FROM NOTHING. (Psa 33:5-9),

 

(Psa 33:5-9 KJV) 

He loveth righteousness and judgment:

the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

{6} By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;

and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

 {7} He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

 {8} Let all the earth fear the LORD:

 let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

 {9} For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

 

God is ETERNAL. He has no beginning and no end. (Rom. 1: 20).

 

(Rom 1:18-20 KJV) 

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men,

who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

 {19} Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them;

 for God hath showed it unto them.

{20} For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,

 being understood by the things that are made,

even his eternal power and Godhead;

so that they are without excuse:

 

 Not only does God love, but the essential nature of GOD IS LOVE (I Jn. 4: 8).

 

(1 John 4:7-12 KJV) 

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;

and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

{8} He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

 {9} In this was manifested the love of God toward us,

because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

 {10} Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,

and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

{11} Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

{12} No man hath seen God at any time.

If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

 

God is FAITHFUL (I Cor. 10: 13),

(1 Cor 10:13 KJV) 

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:

 but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;

but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,

that ye may be able to bear it.

 

God is LIGHT (I Jn. 1: 5),

(1 John 1:5-7 KJV) 

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you,

that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

{6} If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

 {7} But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,

we have fellowship one with another,

and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

 

God is JEALOUS (Deut. 6: 15).

 

(Deu 6:13-19 KJV) 

 {13} Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

{14} Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

{15} (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you)

 lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee,

and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

{16} Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

{17} Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes,

which he hath commanded thee.

{18} And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD:

that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers,

{19} To cast out all thine enemies from before thee,

as the LORD hath spoken.

 

God is UNIQUE-one of a kind and without a competitor

 

(Isa 46:9-10 KJV) 

Remember the former things of old:

for I am God, and there is none else;

 I am God, and there is none like me,

{10} Declaring the end from the beginning,

and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,

saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
