mark has been worxoring like crazy aweSum ++ has collaborators here
in Madrid ++ things r going gr8!
we only have until SAT 2007.06.09 when the exhibition opens so we
have a countdown now of less than 5 daze!!!
we determined we need to achieve the following in the next few daze:
* task (LOCATION)
* work on the RGB LEDS (MADRID)
* calibrate the IR (MADRID)
* install Mac OSX + M$ Windoze on the exhibition machines (MADRID)
* develop the spellwarez (CHICAGO)
* install the spellwarez (MADRID)
* create information/documentation for the exhibition/installation
(MADRID)
* develop the sound styles for the cube's singing (CHICAGO ++ MADRID)
* install radio components in cube
* build the exhibition/installation incl'ing the local network for
the OSC messages (MADRID)
jake -> how are the spellwarez coming?
alex -> we will send you sum sample from the FM3 Buddha Machine to
use as references for the synthesis of the cube's singing voice.
also, we have now determined that the most important audio element if
the cube's songs + we don't need to have the bewitched computers sing
w/the spells.
yawl -> we should use a group name such as H3X3N so that we can
acknowledge the [collaborative/collective] nature of the IX project
so if u r ok w/it we should start to use that or sumThin along those
lines aka a [collaborative/collective] group {name|identity}. cool?
// jC
I'm down with H3X3N. I like it. Do we mind that its also the name
of a video game from the 90's?
Also, we should definitely plan of that SKYPE meeting.... I think it
would be real helpful.
rock!

ya yawl need sum serpentine spells ASAP!!
tamas+i wyrked it out tonite & have a framework coiled at our feet. so
we are building spellz+canvas-meltz rite now.
so the three machines should be on a local network with each other &
have ip addresses that are known by the 'master' machine that is
dispatching these spell requests.
the OSC interface is:
1 each machine listens for OSC message '/spell' which triggers it to
choose a spell & cast it
2 casting machine then replies with '/casting/spellname' where spellname
is one of the following:
- 0N
- 4W4Y
- data_disappear
- 3T3RN4L_R3TURN
- 54W
- R881X0R
- M461C14NZ_H4T
- T3H_0RD3R_0F_0RD3R
- CH405_M4J1K
(that's where it can make decisions about snd/singing/music w/r/t
spells)
3 casting machine tells master machine '/spelldone' when the spell is
done and master machine can listen for a new one.
a basic setup is in the SVN repository now. tamas & i will be building
it out graphically & testing it on Windows XP and OSX (we're developing
on linux now but the gallery machines will be xp/osx only rite?).
we'll try to compile things to .app/.exe best as possible but prolly
have to work close with yawl in .es w/r/t the app running on gallery
platform. scripty dependencies should not be more complex than pygame &
simpleosc.

So we were thinking that it could be a nice add-on to alert the user which
computer they are using by doing a quick screen frequency change depending
on which computer you point at. We were thinking, by say dropping the
frequency or setting it really high we could twitch/fuzz the screen and show
off the power of the cube. What do you think about this? I found a C++
library to do this called CVideoMode
http://www.codeproject.com/tips/resswitch.asp
This would work fine with how Alex has set up his patch, when you traverse
the axis it sets off a simple trigger when you hit certain conditionals that
could send the command.
Ideally this would run real quick so that if you waved it between the three
computers you can watch it jump from computer to computer and see the majic
