Dear brothers and sisters:

This is regarding pastor Sonny's illness that befell him on Monday due to complications of Diabetes and high BP and lack of proper medical attention. I understood he suffered stroke as a result, and had been bedfast since then. My candid suggestion? We should act fast to get him proper medical treatment, like yesterday. I have asked them to take him to the hospital at Owerri that treated my mother last year when she lapsed into coma. I need help in this matter asap to save our fallen brother.

Anxiously waiting for your suggestions.

Respectfully,
Chika.

Iwueke family

It is so sad to start 2013 with continued sorrows from 2012 without any allowance for break. We have drummed up this issue of diabetes & high blood pressure last year for every family member to know what they are, what to eat and check ups.  Lack of proper medical attention is like saying one is preparing to die. I thought by now every family member is educated well enough on what to do if one sustains any of these deadly disease.  For sure no one at home needs a GPS for direction to Owerri for treatment. We can not continue to have the self treatment, treatment of pertinent medicine dealers, mobile medicine man; including native doctors to be making things worse for the family. A yearly medical check up is affordable and it is  the key  to proper health care if you are not able to do every 6 months. Prevention is always better than cure and can stop/slow deteriorating health. Iwueke family at home in general are not participating prevention health care. Why, Why and Why?
-Please Iwueke branch at home, please explain to us why no one assisted Pastor Sunny Ngumezi?
-Is he in the meetings of the family?
-Did he communicate to anyone about his health?
-What effort did he contribute to elevate his health?
-Please will someone reach out to other family members that may have these disease for early treatment or early prevention.
-And I will like the address to Pastor Ngumezi's church to ask why they can not assist in their pastor's health deterioration.
Waiting for family in America to do something, is a long way of approach for immediate effect.  Money will not go that far but individual/family efforts to prevent/educate for management of these disease is what I am talking about. Should the stroke be prevented earlier than now? I will say yes. God help us.  Now, Iwueke Family, what can you do order than  money to prevent these disease from going any further? Adaeze can you inform all Iwueke family at home that have access to internet to start participating in this forum.
Best Regards
Nze Benedict Ngumezi

Great point Nze Benedict Ngumezi. It's very important that we all recognize the benefits of proper diet and exercise in order to prevent some of these devastating effects of diabetes and heart disease. However, we cannot out run our genetically inherited traits, but we can certainly adapt certain lifestyle changes to minimize the effects or delay the onset of these illnesses. We are quite aware that high blood pressure, diabetes (adult onset), aneurysm, are prevalent in our family.

So to bury our heads in the sand and ignore the inevitable and wait for calamity to strike, is not wise. I would suggest that we do what we can in the immediate to help not just Pastor Sonny but any one else that's been struck by the effects of any of the genetically inherited diseases either as a result of ignorance of modifiable lifestyles or lack of will to make those changes. Next, we can then focus on education and prevention utilizing the expertise of those of us in the medical profession or those who have ample knowledge of disease prevention. We are abundantly blessed with such folks in the family.

Thank you once again, Nze Benedict for your candid observations and inquiries. I wish to God I have answers to your questions, my dear brother. I would say though, that it breaks my heart to see that certain illnesses which can be prevented by taking simple precautionary measures, end up costing us the lives of our beloved family members.  It doesn't have to be so. We can do something about it, begining as you suggested, prevention rather than cure.

I continuously pray for the unity and sustained good health of the family as a whole, and for the overflowing riches of each individual! Amen!

Respectfully,

Chika.

Thank you Dr. Chika Ngumezi.
Iwueke family at this time have to wake up and open up  in order to fight these serious health issues. Keeping quiet will bury more than we thought.
A collective effort now to establish yearly affordable medical check up will help in management of these disease. We can negotiate with a doctor back home that can perform this service yearly.  The doctor will be paid with the amount established as dues from all Iwueke family. A $20.00 a year dues for medical check up will not be too much for home people to learn more about their individual health and their children. Grown children can be schooled to assist in monitoring of their parents health as they will manage & monitor themselves. Each Iwueke family unit should have Blood Pressure Monitor and Diabetes Blood Test Equipment. All is to have each family to understand what is High Blood; what is systolic, diastolic and stages of high blood pressure; the normal BP,  low BP and borderline. And then of course the diabetes high, low and borderline. This investment will go a long way in taking strict measures for health care management for home branch. TELL US HOW YOU FEEL.

Best Regards
