Is anyone having problems with their IWS not jumping in a pool? Clay
has decided he doesn't want to jump in the pool, he jumps in our pool,
he practices at a pool, he'll jump like crazy in a lake, but when we
get to a competition, he refuses to jump. This weekend in Frederick,
MD, he started down the dock and I'm thinking, "Yes, he's going to
jump" only for him to put on the brakes and slide off the dock for a
whopping 4' jump. I just can't figure this boy out sometimes.

He only needs 1 more jump for his Junior title and 3 for a Senior
title. The senior titles were from jumps at a lake last summer. Any
thoughts?

I got a refusal in Columbus from "Otis.
The Water in the pool was just artic!
It helped when I put on the neoprene vest.
All of the dogs were jumping shorter than "Normal".

I was bummed out that I couldn't go to the NC ones with Folly. This would been her first time. But she does jump off any thing or into something some times... Like the hot tub when your not expecting it.! Come on in bring Cara, too! LOL!

There was one dock pier at the training park that we go to. She did not want to go after the bumper. Instead Miss Prissy..aka Folly, went down the  boat ramp to go get the bumper.

often times dogs refuse the pool because they don't know where the surface or the bottom is - thats the biggest issue - a lake you know where the surface is as you can see it. A pool at home you are used to and usually not asked to jump from 2 feet above it....

Balloo was spooked at first and when the helper had me look at the pool from his perspective, all I could see was the end of the dock and the bottom of the pool 7 feet below - the surface of the water barely even showed....

With practice his confidence grew and now he does not doubt their being water there any more!
