Hi everybody,

im tring to keep off the keel of my IW.

Is there somebody who knows the exact tightening torque of prisoners of our boats?

and do you know where I can buy all the plans and whatever regards IW 40?

Hello Francesco,

Welcome and congratulations on your IW40. Is her name Salt Dragon 2 ? Do you know her hull number?

I assume you want to remove the lead keel? Our keel studs are slightly angled outwards so I have always assumed that it would not be possible to remove the keel without removing at least all the studs on one side, not just the nuts (I have never done this). We have tightened the keel bolts once, using a wrench about 50cm long and moderate force. You should stay well below the maximum torque that the keel stud size can take.

Sparkman & Stephens may be able to sell you some plans. We have some, but I am not onboard now so I can not show you exactly what we have. I have attached the Swedish brochure.

Like other original stainless steel on the IW40, it should be 316 (or A4). What is happening with your keel?

I had seepages of water so i decided to take it off .
I was asking to you wich kind of steel exactly to calculate the right ligtening torque
