Hi
Does anyone know what is the core of the deck made from. Is it foam or balsa/ply? Also, how long do the teak decks typically last?
Thanks
Mark

Hi,

The material is divinycell.
The teak decks are subject to care and maintenance done by their owners, 10 to 30 years I guess.
New teak will not be as long lasting though.

Hi Mark,

I second PerS.

The foam core is unaffected by potential water ingress, and the water cannot propagate.

The life of teak decks depends on conditions (climate, cleaning, winter storage under cover, etc.). Our deck was originally 12mm thick. In Scandinavia it could last 35 years, in the Med perhaps as little as 15 years, and require occasional re-caulking and re-bunging.
