datain folder

I'm a new IVEware user and I'm noticing that I am unable to read the SAS datasets I copy into the datain folder. Looking closer at the issue, I found that the files that, on installation, appear in this directory (e.g. nhanes0708) all have accompanying files with .met extensions. These .met files contain information about each variable in the corresponding SAS dataset file. The new files I copy into the datain directory do not have a .met file, which is why IVEware cannot read them. My question is, must the .met file be created by the user? Or is there a way to get IVEware to create them for each new file copied into the datain folder?

Select the file you want to convert and click "datain", then click "metadata". Load variable names and anything else, then click "generate" to make the *.met file.
