Hundreds, if not thousands, of U.S. soldiers are refusing to fight in
the
wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many soldiers have sought refuge in
Canada.
Others have stayed in the country to join the movement against the
war.
Come to this incredible event to learn more about the war resisters'
reasoning, ambitions, motivations and struggles, as they fight to end
these illegal and immoral occupations.

DESERTER
'Deserter' is the journey a deserting soldier and his young wife as
they
flee across the country to seek refugee status over the Canadian
border.
As they move from safe house to safe house, we get to know Ryan and
Jen -
two, shy, small-town kids from the Central Valley who joined the
military
because there were no jobs, and find they must make a heroic stand in
order to escape an illegal and immoral war. 'Deserter' is a political
road
movie with one of the few happy endings that this war has given us.

BREAKING RANKS
Breaking Ranks is a moving documentary that examines the current
phenomena
of US soldiers seeking refuge in Canada as part of their resistance to
the
war effort in Iraq. With intimate access to four American military
deserters, their lawyer and families, this film documents their
experiences as they try to exercise their consciences amidst profound
emotional, ethical and international consequences. If deported, they
face
the venom of mainstream American opinion and one to five year s in
prison.
