Hi -

I am writing to say hello and to wish you all the best in your forthcoming trial. 

In January, I attended the trial of Yasemin Acar. I was struck by the absurdity of the proceedings, but also by the wonderful support and solidarity between the signatories of the peace petition. It was a privilege to be there and to meet people who have shown such principle and such strength in standing up to state repression. 

If there is anything I can do to be of use to you, let me know. Certainly, I am not unique in wanting to help. Many of us are deeply concerned and want our colleagues in Turkey to know that they are not alone! What is more various organisations – including EASP and ISPP - are developing schemes to support Turkish scholars at risk and I can introduce you to their Presidents if that would help.

So do keep in touch. Good luck and keep strong!
