Several members of the Cycling team have structured workouts or
workout plans.
Reply to this post with workout times/descriptions, so that others may
join in.

My structured workouts (other workouts are made on-the-fly):

• MWF: 7:00 am swim - 2 of the 3 days

• TuTh: 7:30 am gym workout (weight training, workouts vary)

• I also try to make it to Sunflower Yoga ~ twice a month for a class.

omfg. I only had the most interesting things typed out and my browser
froze when I hit send.

I'll try to recover from this.

in short: a new Cat 5 should be doing 8.5hrs this week to peak for
Mingo Creek/College Road Season

Monday-- Off or Recovery Day
Tuesday-- 1.5hr ride Gym day
Wednesday-- Long ride day ~2hrs
Thursday-- 1.5h ride
Friday-- 1 hr ride with spinning skills incorporated. Second gym day.
Saturday-- Long ride day 1.5-2hr ride
Sunday-- 1.5hr recovery ride

This is a solid plan for most of your base mileage. Look for rolling
hills courses and stay seated on any climbs on the course.

My plan for this week: WEEK 2 of BASE I

Monday-- OFF
Tuesday-- 2hr ride
Wednesday-- 3hr ride
Thursday-- 3hr ride
Friday-- 1hr. Speed skills day. Usually a stationary ride.
Saturday-- 4hrs. Will be a 2 to 3 workout day. I cannot do 4 hrs of
solid riding and enjoy it unless it's spring, summer, or fall, and I'm
not in Indiana.
Sunday-- 2.5hrs. Recovery ride primarily.

Remember, when doing base miles, you should keep your heart rate at a
minimum. The purpose is to work on endurance fitness, not power. Don't
do any attacks, take your time on the climbs, and stay in the saddle.
These rides are good for a group because they should be long, slow,
and boring.
