Dear Colleagues
Thank you for the annual report, really great job and good data.
Just we would like to note, that in our renewed checklist of bees (attached) there are data about Bumble bee species distributed in Georgia and locations about their records. May be there is no exact coordinates, but anyway it could be interesting to put this data in report too.
Of course this is up to committee what do you think is good enough to put in the report. This is just our thought.
We have collected also new material and hope we will manage to present results next year.
All the best
Sincerely
George

Dear George,

Good to hear from you and good news about the revised checklist of bees from Georgia.

As you know, Georgia is within the BBSG West Asia region. This BBSG Regional Group has been led by Murat in Turkey and Alireza in Iran. Unfortunately, although Murat has been involved in an impressive project to map the bumblebees of Turkey, the situation in Turkey is not easy at the moment. Alireza is doing a good job in mapping the bumblebees of Iran.

What would be really great would be if you were able to create a spreadsheet or database for the Georgian bumblebee records with georeferenced specimen data, from GPS data where possible. The BBSG generally is trying to move towards having an evidence base in reference collections (in many regional institutions) in which specimens have individual identifier numbers on them that relate to these database entries with georeferenced details. This makes mapping and analysis much easier for Red List assessment and other studies.

Please keep in touch and let me know how the bumblebee work is going. Let's aim to have an entry on progress in Georgia for next year's BBSG report!

With very best wishes, Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for the report, summarizes a lot of impressive work!

Maybe could be added that there is a fairly new Red List of italian bees including bumblebees? I do not think that it was mentioned in previous reports, but I might be wrong

it seems available only in Italian but still relevant as it covers some Alpine bees as well

Cheers

Hi Paolo,

Good to hear from you.

This is definitely something that the European Coordinator should have included in their regional report.  Unfortunately the combined report has already been circulated.  It could of course be added next year.

I would suggest two actions.  First, you might use the BBSG googlegroups email to let everyone know directly.  Second, if you send a pdf or a link to Sarina, she may be able to add a link to the BBSG web pages.

Sorry that this was not included.  Hope everything else is going well.

Best, Paul
