Hi everybody

It is makeup time.

Several people had attendance problem, despite all the warnings we gave during the semester. Besides the technical issue of the change of course code (that made almost everybody a first-time student), the content this semester was different from previous semesters. In particular, due to COVID, last year we had a shorter semester and we missed important parts of the topics.

You cannot assume that what you studied earlier will be enough this semester. It will not be "magically" better this semester unless you put some effort. That is why homework is mandatory. Even if you had another course at the same time, you still had time to do every homework. People who did homework, even with mistakes, got good grades.

Nevertheless, it seems fair that this time we let everybody take the makeup exam, despite their attendance. We measure what you learn and how you solve problems, not how much time did you sit in front of the computer.

So, if you want to pass this course this time, please answer the makeup exam. Let me remind you that next year the course content in 100% different, since there is a new teacher.

Please read it carefully and ask me if you do not understand. The questions are a little complicated, but the answers are easy. I will be helping everybody that asks me, fairly. That is, if I give a hint to somebody, I will give it to everybody.

80% of the correct answer is to understand the question. If you do not understand, please write exactly what you understand, and then ask what you do not understand. It is not enough to say "I don't understand the question". You have to say "I understand X, so I think I would do Y, but then I don't understand Z"
