Hello All,
Pretty new to ITZI, but I am enjoying using it. The tutorial states that you can add uniform rainfall using the r.mapcalc expression in GRASS.
My question is how would I add a rainfall time series? I already have a time series available for my model that I would like to use as rainfall.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

You can group your time series into a Space-Time Raster Dataset:

Then give the name of the STRDS in the itzi configuration file.

Laurent

Would this be valid even if the current format is a txt or csv file?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi,

You need to first transform your text file into raster (using r.mapcalc) then create the STRDS.

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

I was wondering if there would be a way to do this for ITZI. I want to divide my catchment up into smaller subcatchments and then "turn off" rainfall in each of those small subcatchments one by one to see their impact on the over all flood risk... I hope thats not too confusing.. I've managed to do this with models such as TUFLOW, but unsure how I would navigate this using ITZI. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Amrie,

What you describe is possible, but it might require a bit of work to prepare your precipitation STRDS. In short, you have to prepare each map of the STRDS to take into account when each catchment is "on".

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

Hope you are well, I am trying to create the strds for my rainfall but I keep meeting with a t.register error.  Space time raster dataset <bc_dbase_30yr@PERMANENT> with relative time found, but no relative unit set for raster maps" I've tried setting the units which is then followed by "unit= can only be set for relative time" error. When I manage to get rid of these errors (by playing around) I am hit by another error "unable to update raster map <@PERMANENT>. The map does not exist", even though the raster map name is specified.
Any insight into this would be helpful.

Amrie,

I'm not sure what is wrong here. Since this is a GRASS-related issue, you might have more luck on the grass-user mailing list.
