I make yogurt myself several times a week. -selbst-gemacht/It's really not an art.I never boil out the glasses. No need. When I use raw milk, i.e. milk that comes directly from the farmer and has not been treated, I heat the milk to a little over 70 C ( 167 F), then I let it cool down to around 30 C (86 F). Then I add the yogurt mixture. When I use commercial milk, I don't heat the milk. Then I stir the yogurt mixture directly into the milk at room temperature.

Thankfully, my kids do not face the overt racism that I faced as a child. That said, I feel an obligation to warn them about the illusion of proximity-to-whiteness as protection from racism, and to encourage them to make different choices than I did. In our ongoing and future conversations and by example, the gist of what I want to communicate with them about resisting racial oppression is this:

  • To make crostini: slice a gluten free baguette (or a regular baguette if you don't need to eat GF,) into 1/4" slices then arrange on a silpat or parchment paper lined baking sheet. Brush both sides with extra virgin olive oil then season lightly with salt and pepper. Bake for 8-12 minutes at 350 degrees, rotating the baking sheet once, or until crostini are golden brown.

Finally made this today with leftover Easter ham. Very good! I did it with the flour, but still found it too thin and mashed half of the second can of beans to thicken it. I also added a bit of fresh rosemary since it grows in my yard! I also waited to add any salt until after I cooked the ham in there for 15-20 minutes, just to make sure how much salty taste that added to the Really good!

Mary Pickersgill is often credited with sewing the Star-Spangled Banner which flew over Fort McHenry in Maryland and inspired Francis Scott Key to write our national anthem. Less known is that Grace Wisher, an African American girl at just 13 years old, also helped make the flag. It's another testament to the deeply rooted, yet oft unmentioned, contributions of African Americans to the very core of this country.

The home where Pickersgill and Wisher lived is now a museum called the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House. It holds a 1962 painting by famed Baltimore artist Robert McGill Mackall. The portrait features the Pickersgill household and the three men who commissioned the garrison and storm flags for Fort McHenry: Commodore Joshua Barney, General John Stricker, and Colonel George Armistead. As a tribute to Wisher, the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House drew in a ghost figure into the painting that represents the young girl. Due to our uncertainty of what she looked like, the placeholder is a traced line, but the recognition is tangible.

Lay the printed pattern pieces onto the taped foam board to plan their position and make sure the foam board is big enough. Remove the pattern pieces from the foam board, keeping them in order, as you will need them again in just a moment.

Trim off all the excess foam board from all pieces using an X-Acto knife or box cutter. Trim right up to the edges of the printed paper. If you accidentally make any tears or rips, use spray adhesive or craft glue to patch it back together.

Last Christmas I posted about how to make DIY Sock gnomes in just a few easy steps. At that time I just made little gnomes with beards. So this year I wanted to show you how you can also make very cute little girl sock gnomes the easy way.

If you prefer watching a video on how to make girl sock gnomes then I have created one below. Please let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise you can scroll below for a full written tutorial.

Print off the gnome pattern above and cut out your gnome hat. After you have your hat cut out, sew a seam or hot glue along the longest side of the hat. Making a hat like the one below. I used old sweaters to make my girl gnome hats.

After I have my gnome hat put together I usually fill it with poly fil. I stick a wooden skewer or stick in the center of the sock before I put the hat on my girl gnome to keep the hat upright. If you do not want your hat to stay upright you could also skip the skewer.

Hot glue any other parts in place. On these gnomes I added some clothes. I used the bottom of a sock for the gnomes outfit and added a few buttons. I also used a sock top to make a pocket on the other gnome.

I'm Elizabeth, and I believe creativity is a gift to glorify God, bless others and bring JOY into your day! And so I love teaching others how to make beautiful crafts by breaking projects down into simple easy to follow steps. I am so glad you are here and I am looking forward to crafting TOGETHER!!

All of that being said, we pulled together enough questions to fuel hundreds of conversations to alleviate some of the initial stress around good things to ask a girl. After all, good, old-fashioned chat is the best way to get to know someone.

This is one way to make a great box oven. I used my oven for about 10 years before it needed to be replaced. You can make all sorts of food in this oven. My favorite is Chocolate Chip Cookies, which need to be cooked in a circle so the middle cookies don't get burned while the outside ones aren't cooked at all.

For this section you need about 10 linear feet of foil. Use 6" of tape the secure the foil to the back of the box. Smooth the foil over the box securing it with 4" sections of tape as you cover the box. fold over the flap and cover the inside of the box. Keep working until you get back to the side of the box you started on. Use small sections of tape on the inside and make sure to make the corners as square as you can.

For this portion you need about 8 linear feet of foil. Start on the short side of the box. Tape foil to the box with a 4" piece of tape. Smooth the foil up the short side, down the inside of the oven, over the bottom, and up the other side. Secure with tape as you go along. Cut the corners as you go around the top and tape around the edges to stop the foil from separating. Tape all the foil edges so you don't have any flaps or openings on the inside of the oven. Smooth the foil until you run out of foil and tape down all the edges. Try to make all corners as smooth and square as possible which will help keep your oven looking nice for a much longer time.

For this step you need 4 empty aluminum cans, 4 - 6" x 18" wide pieces of foil, sand or pinto beans, small grill, small aluminum cookie sheet, and two stackable pie pans. First fill the cans 1/2 - 2/3 full of pinto type beans or sand. Then tape the top of the can with a 2" piece of aluminum tape to make sure the beans and such don't fall out. Wrap the cans with foil and secure them with tape. Fold the ends over the cans and set them aside. Put the pie pans into the oven and arrange the cans in a square. Place the grill over the cans. When the coals have been heated, put them in the pie pan. Heated coals are 50 degrees each, so add as many as you need to make the correct cooking temp for whatever you happen to be making. The box oven will get hot on the bottom, so be careful if you move if directly after cooking.

And one of my leadership training seminars with Scouts I saw them make these ovens and cook all kinds of things. I saw them cook a muffin in an orange. Part of being a scout is leaving no trace and being resourceful so we ate the orange and use the peel as a baking pan.

I used high heat tape but I think I understand what you're saying. You're questioning if the adhesive on the heat tape is a problem. With my Cub Scout group, one of the parents ask the same question. The food is not touching the glue so if you're concerned is regarding poisoning of some kind that is unlikely. The glue does stick, and the glue stays stuck if your question is about the effectiveness of the heat tape and the glue on the tape. I actually built a solar powered oven and double insulated it for our cast iron chef project in scouts. I used regular tape on it and I couldn't believe that it held. The solar powered oven is not going to get as hot as a box oven with coals. You don't even have to use aluminum tape on the box but it does help work as an insulator and make the box look better.

As the narrator of the up-tempo song, Kendricks tells his girl "I love you, girl, with all my heart and soul/ I can't understand why you treat me cold", and now his "heart feels the pain" cause by her mistreatment of him. This single would be Kendricks' last as lead on an A-side until "Get Ready" in 1966, and the last for Whitfield as producer until "Ain't Too Proud to Beg"; this would be due to the fact that "Get Ready", composed and produced by Smokey Robinson, had missed the Pop Top 20 just like this single did.

Just made this and it was a hit! Used chicken thighs we had on hand, frozen broccoli that I added in the last two minutes after I nuked it in the microwave for the recommended amount. Also added oregano and basil after it was cooked before the cheese was added. Absolutely loved it! Will make again, thanks for this.

This is really good! I added a few more seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. I also added a couple scoops of sour cream in at the same time as the chicken broth to make it creamy. Absolutely delicious!

The release date can't be blank because I have validates :release_date, presence: true in my item model. Ideally I'd have a validation there that makes sure any date supplied IS a date but also accepts NIL because I won't always have a date available.

Around that time (mid-fall), the black walnut trees (Juglans nigra) started to drop their nuts. I had heard that they make a good dye and can be boiled down further to make a good quality, fade-proof, chestnut brown ink. Since Davin has been doing more ink work as of late, I thought it would be fun to collect a few nuts and experiment with using them as both a dye for my projects and an ink for his. The experiment has been a huge success so I thought I would share the process and the results with you here.
