HelloI recently upgraded to windows 11 and because I don't want to use the HP Smart app I downloaded HP Printer Assistant as provided by someone from this group. HP Smart isn't bad, it's just annoying that it can't automatically detect if I'm using the document feeder or the scanner glass. Advanced setting also seem to be unavailable for my model printer (Officejet 4630) and I can't utilize an ink saving setting that I had using HP Printer Assistant. However it doesn't look like HP Printer Assistant can connect the printer through network or wired connection. I can however connect to HP Smart wirelessly. It's very odd, does anyone else have this problem? Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Help please I just purchased a New Dell Desktop and my TR8620 prints fine but it will not scan. Does Window 11 not work with this printer? Or do I need to do something else? I followed the Cannon set up completely online

I've had this same problem, but finally got it to work. Go to the Cannon Website to reload the following drivers: TR8600 printer driver and IJ Printer Assistant Tool Ver.1.90.3 (Windows). Restart your computer. The IJ Printer Asst Tool should set up a shortcut on your desktop if you say YES when asked. Double click the shortcut, and this gives you a pop up window for SCANNING only. Click the buttons based on what your scanning and this should work. Our setup is thru USB printer cable, so not sure if this works wirelessly. For some reason after loading Windows 11, the scan button on the printer no longer works, but this utility allows us to scan again. Good Luck!

I'm not sure what software you installed from your description. If you are using a USB connection, its important to run the software installer first and not connect the printer until prompted to do so. If you connect it first, it can cause problems as Windows will make a best effort to install drivers that may not be complete or correct.

If this happened, you might want to disconnect the printer. Remove it from windows, uninstall the software and restart your system. Then reinstall the software and connect only when prompted to do so.

I listed the drivers we loaded in my message from Cannon's website. Microsofts driver does NOT work with the scanner....it will print but not scan. Load the printer assistant driver listed above from Cannon.

It does come packaged with the driver, but might have been removed in a later revision. I recommend trying out the HP Smart app from the Windows Store. It has a lot of the same functionality and might work for the client.

Depending on the model of HP there are a few different management software packages used ranging from the HP Smart for newer printers and HP toolbox for older printers. For most printers downloading the full install package from support.hp.com should provide the relevant package for your printer. More details would definitely allow me to give you a better answer.

I highly doubt he needs the HP printer assistant. He is probably used to solving some everyday tasks using that assistant, which is perhaps not the optimal way to do things. Instead of installing that HP crapware, especially if the printer is working flawlessly, I would highly recommend you ask him what kind of problem he is trying to solve.

Users with Canon printers, including Canon imageRUNNER printers and copiers, can print to those devices from OS X 10.4.x Tiger. (Support for OS X previous to 10.4.x Tiger is provided by Apple and Canon but these instructions are based on a 10.4.x Tiger environment.) To create the connection, you will need to download and install drivers for your printer or copier from Canon and set up the printer using Apple's Printer Setup Utility.

Download the installer and run it; it will require all other applications to close, and then for you to restart the machine after the installation is complete. It will also ask you to authenticate at the beginning of the installation; you will need an administrator account to install these drivers. Note: For Leopard systems the instructions below are roughly accurate, but the driver is different, go here for the Leopard driver.

Some departments have enabled job accounting on their Canon printers, requiring users to supply an account number and numeric password to print. To enable job accounting, first enter the print dialog of any application. This can usually be triggered with the command-P keyboard command or by selecting "Print..." from the File menu.

Enter the account number and password in the new dialog box. (To obtain your account number and password please contact your administrative assistant or site specialist.) Click OK to save your changes.
