Havingthe same issue. The previous Chrome update about a week ago has ruined my
chess.com experience. Since the update, chrome will get so resource-hungry while on Chess.com, it lags to the point I have to restart my browser after about an hour of play. Gaming, endless tabs, etc. does not cause this - only Chess.com. The current update (from yesterday or the day before) has started these "Page unresponsive" pop-ups which is further ruining
chess.com. The page is clearly not unresponsive as I'm still able to play after selecting "wait" on the popup.
I'm wondering if you have AdBlock. Something I noticed while typing this - on the lower left hand side of the browser it might say "waiting for *.
media.net" - I believe the ads are constantly trying to load and that part of the page is becoming unresponsive - prompting the popup.
Hi I have disabled Adblock on Chess.com and refreshed the page. The errors and lag have disappeared. Chess.com or the ad company seem to be trying to ruin your experience on the site if you block their ads. Bullying you to purchase platinum I guess. The advertisements change shape and size and it causes the board on Chess.com to resize and get off-set, causing me to mouse-slip twice in the 5 minutes i've had ads unblocked. Further bullying me to get platinum I guess lol
I am having constant "Pages Unresponsive" popups during matches and during menuing while on Chess.com. Sounds like a Chrome issue based on others' reports but this is entirely the reason I've lose several close bullet matches. Constantly closing out windows during games is ridiculous. I've had to close out like 20 just typing this message on here!!!!
i was just using that same chrome version (100.0.4896.75), and yeah, i got "pages unresponsive" popups every few seconds while i was playing. but after updating chrome to 100.0.4896.88 i haven't been getting any "page unresponsive" errors in general. so maybe try updating chrome?
Sometimes when in live on Chess.com sounds stop playing (mainly opponent moves), and I'm a player who really likes/needs sound. Luckily the problem is fixed by a quick page refresh (though I lose about 10 seconds of playing time).
However just now I was playing a 3-minute blitz tournament game:
when I refreshed the page and it auto-reigned for me. I mean seriously wtf??? Not just resigned but took me out of the tournament.
Is this a bug? If so can it please be fixed! Many thanks!
I think throwing someone out of a tournament without warning because they refresh the page due to sound problems is a bit harsh to say the least. I'm not sure what kind of behaviour that is supposed to discourage! P.s. I don't disconnect or abort a lot - certainly I haven't recieved any warnings about aborting in a long time.
When you say that you are not sure what kind of behaviour they are trying to discourage, I find it hard to believe that you have never experienced a player disconnecting instead of resigning when losing.
When I say what kind of behaviour they are trying to discourage I mean a simple page refresh should not result in being thrown out of a tournament! I've experienced disconnecting players, and it is annoying, but I'm not sure what that has to do with my situation which was a simple page refresh.
Sucks to see this is an ongoing issue. Happened twice to me just now. Both times the opponent did not make a move for a very long time so I thought that maybe my page had frozen or something I needed to refresh to get back to the game (you know... to actually avoid a disconnection loss...). Nope. First time tonight I thought it was a bug or maybe I had accidentally clicked resign. But after the second time I now realize that it is the website doing it intentionally. Very annoying that I am actively trying to *AVOID* a disconnection and instead I cause myself to get one. Hope this can be improved.
Edit: This was in 10 min rapid, not blitz.
That's odd, why not just have the timer keep running normally and not force a resign when a disconnect happens? Blitz games aren't that long, so the disconnected party has the chance to come back or will be forced to resign themselves and the opponent doesn't have to wait much anyway. Where's the downside?

Its not because of cheating that people play bullet. Its because they find it fun to try to flag the opponent and play quick and good. Personally, there is no way i could ever even play a 10 minute game. Usually i dont have that much time and these longer time controls are meant only for tournament play. Online, 45 min and 30 min is very long and boring which is why many people choose to play blitz and also why games are found every couple of seconds in blitz, whereas every 5-10 minutes for a 4545 game
A very tense affair.. I got his queen in 8 minutes. A 20minute delay ensued but then he fought back well and won material back and I had to think long and hard and it was getting down to the wore in the end but I managed to squeeze out the win.
^I guess that is possible. But seems a bit pointless if people are more interested in the number beside their name than actually engaging in genuine competition and finding how good they actually are and watching themselves improve through practise.
45 min is way too long. 10 minutes for each side is more than enough time to calculate. 15 also good. No chess game should exceed a half-hour, except for daily games. I like daily cause u can play 100 games simultaneously

Levi Rozman only disappoints me more and more after every video as his content continues to worsen. He has shifted his focus from teaching chess to entertaining, and he is completely obnoxious! He has the most atrocious voice and looks like a garden gnome with hair like black pawns on e6 and d6. It's not even that I dislike him as a person; his content is utterly garbage as well!!!
How dare you offend me with your outright rash comments. You and Levi Rozman are the problems with this generation. Degenerates like you spread terrible content around on the internet, preying on the weak minded.
Probably the most funny thing I have seen on forums. The way to deal with these trolls is to insult them until they realise they are not welcome here and go away. He will probably tell me that I am rubbish at chess and should quit or that teenagers these days are evil but I think the more of us that tell him he is not wanted the better
