Welcome to the December 2009 issue of the Cisco
Routing and Switching Update. Last month, we took a big step forward to
realizing the full potential of the Borderless Networks Architecture with
the exposition of the Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2 (ISR
G2). This month, we spotlight next steps in software (Cisco IOS Software
Release 15) and intelligent services (Power over Ethernet and security).
And these all serve as only the beginning for borderless networks. As
Yankee Group’s Zeus Kerravala states in his recent white paper highlighting
Cisco’s approach, “The only way to ensure that the network can deliver the
required level of security, application optimization, and performance is to
ensure it acts as a platform.”
