Windows Mail Configuration In Windows Vista


  1. Open Windows (Vista) Mail , go to Tools menu and select Accounts...

  2. Click the "Add..." button.

  3. Make sure 'Email Account' is selected and click on "Next" button.

  4. Enter your Display Name. (This is your full name as you would like it to appear when you send messages to other people.) Then click Next.

  5. Enter your E-mail Address.

  6. This is the address that your contacts' email program will reply to your messages. This is also the address that will get recorded in your contacts' address book if they add you as a contact.
    The following address formats are valid alternate addresses for some older accounts:
    Note: some mailing lists will not let you post if you change this setting. It is recommended that you update your mailing list preferences to reflect the address you specify in this setting.
  7. Click Next.

  8. Within the 'Setup e-mail servers' screen:

  9. Click Next.

  10. Enter your NetID in the "Account Name" field, and your password in "Password" field if you wish.

  11. Click Next

  12. Make sure 'Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time' checkbox is checked and click "Finish" button to return to your account list.

  13. Highlight your WiscMail account, then click "Properties" button.

  14. Click the 'Servers' tab.

  15. Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the box labeled "This server requires authentication".

  16. Click 'Settings' button.

  17. Check that Logon Information is set to Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.

    Click "OK" button.

  18. Click the 'Advanced' tab.

  19. Check the box labeled "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" under Incoming mail (POP) and Outgoing Mail (SMTP).

    • Make sure that the SMTP Port Number is set to 587.
    • Make sure that the POP Port Number is set to 995.

    Important: WiscMail introduces SSL which provides secure authentication to your email.

  20. Click OK.

Your WiscMail account is now configured to check and send mail..
