Dear Zoe, 

My name is Jody Burr and I'm an artist based in Hyde Park.  I'm part of a 9-artist studio collective called the Brick Island Studio Collective, which is located at 1476 River Street at the corner of  Reservation Road, across from the barber shop and Richy's Luncheonette.  

The Brick Island Studio Collective received a Neighborhood Activation Grant last year from the City of Boston to provide culture and arts access around local communities, and artists from our collective have been hosting free art workshops around Hyde Park for the past year, including at the Menino Arts Center, the Hyde Park Public Library and the Pryde.  Next weekend, on Saturday June 20, we will be hosting a Neighbors and Makers Block Party from 12-5 pm in the parking lot of our studio building, open to the community.  The event will feature a DJ, hands on art making activities with artists from our collective, and free ice cream from Ron's Ice Cream (while supplies last).  It's our way of giving back to the community and letting our neighbors know we're here.  

I've attached a flyer with more info for you to share with your network, and here's a link to our website with more info about our past events and the artists in our collective.  (We have of course secured the necessary city permits required for this event.)
