MEET ETHAN
I am thrilled to introduce my new Legislative Aide Ethan Phan! Ethan started in my office and has hit the ground running! He is a lifelong 14th Suffolk resident from Readville and did an outstanding job as a summer intern in my office while attending Harvard University. He loves public service and helping others and I know will do a great job for the residents of Hyde Park, Roslindale, Readville and West Roxbury. Please join me in welcoming him to this new role!

FY27 BUDGET
I was proud to vote for a thoughtful and responsible budget that responds to the needs of residents and makes targeted investments that provide support for families across the Commonwealth. Funded at $63.41billion, the FY27 budget responds to the needs of residents, provides record support for the Commonwealth’s cities and towns, and among many critical investments, includes significant funding for education, transportation, health care, housing, and workforce development.
I am grateful to Chairman Aaron Michlewitz, Speaker Ron Mariano, and all my
colleagues for supporting my amendments for investments in the 14th Suffolk
District that provide funding for:
- The Pryde, LGBTQ welcoming senior housing in Hyde Park
- The Menino Arts Center
- Riverside Theatre Works
- Resources for Recovery, Inc.
- VITFriends - Vitiligo Support Group
- Safety initiatives on district parkways and BHA Fairmount development
- Catie’s Closet, an organization based in Readville serving BPS students in need
- Programming for older adults in Hyde Park, Roslindale, and West Roxbury

LEGISLATION
FAIR SHARE SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET
The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a $1.8 billion supplemental budget that invests $885 million in public transportation and $417 million in public education, and funds several Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) deficiencies. I was thrilled this bill included my amendments for funding for Casserly House in Roslindale and the Southwest Boston CDC’s Green Team.
DATA PRIVACY LEGISLATION
The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed comprehensive legislation establishing essential consumer data privacy rights for residents of the Commonwealth. The Massachusetts Consumer Data Privacy Act provides consumers with greater control over their own data. The bill increases accountability for companies and grants user data privacy protections to residents of and those present in Massachusetts. Highlights include strong privacy protections for minors and a blanket ban on the sale of precise geolocation data.
ENVIRONMENTAL BOND BILL
The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a $3.5 billion bond bill that will modernize environmental laws, strengthen climate resilience, support agricultural and food systems, streamline permitting processes, and improve the management of the Commonwealth’s natural resources. The bill advances a broad set of reforms designed to help communities prepare for the impacts of climate change, accelerate critical infrastructure projects, improve environmental protections, and support Massachusetts’ cities and towns. I am grateful to my colleagues for supporting my amendments including funding for renovations to the Boston Housing Authority Fairmount Development in Hyde Park and Weider Park in Roslindale.

SUPREME COURT TPS DECISION
The Supreme Court's decision to end Temporary Protected Status for Haitians and other immigrants is a devastating blow to our community and Haitian communities across the Commonwealth and the nation. Six unelected judges overturned the will of the Congress who offered the protection of the United States of America to people in danger.
These are our neighbors, our coworkers, our children's classmates. They built lives here in Boston. TPS is not an immigration loophole, it was a promise that America would not send people back into harm's way. That promise has now been broken.
As the State Representative for the 14th Suffolk District, home to one of the largest Haitian communities in Massachusetts, I am committed to working at the state level to protect our neighbors. Congress should seek a legislative remedy that protects vulnerable communities without forcefully tearing apart families that have lived, worked, and grown here for decades.

The Roslindale Girl Scout Troop 63603 was on Beacon Hill advocating for passage of legislation to ban PFAS in children’s toys. They did a great job telling me why I should support this legislation, and I was thrilled to bring them on the House floor during our session! |

Wonderful visit to the Toussaint Louverture Cultural Center of Massachusetts! Amazing facility in Boston which works to promote the culture and contributions of Haiti and the Haitian community. The facility was beautiful and you should stop by! |
I was honored to speak at the Disability Policy Consortium legislative briefing at the Sate House. Thank you to this organization for working tirelessly to make sure individuals with disabilities have a voice in State government. I am proud to cosponsor legislation with Rep. Decker to ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to live independently in safe, affordable housing across Massachusetts. |
I was proud to kick off Poison Prevention Week at the State House by hosting The MA & RI Poison Prevention Center for a legislative briefing. Poisoning is preventable! Please use this important resource to help save a life! |

I was honored to give remarks at the VITFriends 2026 Leaders Summit. Amazing organization that tirelessly advocates for those with the disease Vitiligo. I am proud to sponsor legislation in MA requiring health care coverage for those with Vitiligo and for the creation of the Commonwealth’s first Commission on Vitiligo. I was thrilled to welcome New Mission High School in Hyde Park to the State House! Great group of Boston Public School Students toured the building and had a pizza lunch! The group included my nephew Owen and many Hyde Park Youth Basketball players and neighbors |

My colleagues and I toured Vinfen’s Webster House Clubhouse in Roslindale and met with members and staff. An amazing space that offers employment, housing and educational services as well as a social activities, life skills and wellness initiatives to those with mental health and substance use challenges. Our tour guides were awesome and the space was so welcoming and friendly! Great to have these important services right here in Roslindale. |
