Hi everyone,
Robotics Club is organizing a visit to ABU ROBOCON INDIA-2013 on 9th of March which is held in Pune every year. Also, we will be having an Industrial Work Visit at one of our Alumni's Machine Design Studio where we will get to see an fully automated machine that places goods in cardboard boxes and closes them (This seems simple but believe me it is not, for more details, see attached pdfs)

Details-
He came, he saw, he conquered and he's not Julius Caeser. He's an illustrious alumnus who's walked the untrodden path. He's Harshwardhan Gupta, an innovator to the core who has made 100 different original machines from packaging machines to modular conveyors to coconut pith dewaterers to balloon-folding machines to automated crack-detecting machines for con-cast billets to yarn-testing machines to pencil manufacturing. His firm Neubauplan Machine-design Studio clients include Pidilite, Messung, SmithKline Beecham (UK), Cipla, Johnson & Johnson, Ranbaxy etc.
Since 2010 he is working on patented invention to automate erection low grade corrugated cartons (cardboard ke dabbe), place goods and close them. This seemingly simple, end-of-the-line task is difficult for machines and is extensively labor intensive.
He has agreed to let us visit his innovation studio in Pune and see the machine first hand. It would be a 4 hours demonstration and QnA session. He has explicitly stated that only curious students should come and this should not be misconstrued as a trip. He expects us all to read his interesting articles on www.neubauplan.com along with those attached
He has another IITB alumnus (2010) as his employee who left his job at an BCG after 2 years. In sir's own words "He's enjoying himself thoroughly!!". Moreover he has reluctantly agreed to take one or two unpaid interns if he finds them capable enough.

ROBOCON, short for Robotic Contest, is an interesting game- cum- intellectual exercise for budding engineers and their enthusiastic instructors, determined to innovate and create machines for producing desired results. Participation in this activity is an end-to-end competitive experience from concept design of a system of robots programmed to perform according to rules of the game played on a high precision technical Contest Area and to score a victory beating the competitors; all this according to a Theme declared by the Host Country, which, this year goes by the name “The Green Planet”.
Starting from 3 teams, this competition has reached a level where 66 National Teams participate to prove their engineering skills.
