Interlink Software were pioneers in some of the leading Service Level Management project in Europe in the early 1990s. From these early SLM projects we saw that these solutions developed from SLM to Business Service Management (BSM) over the next decade. Interlink Software along with Managed Objects (later acquired by Novell) and BMC software (later acquired by private equity) were the founding fathers of BSM with Interlink Software leading the way right through the late 90s and into the 21st century. During this period a number of pragmatic approaches were developed by Interlink Software to help deliver large scale demanding SLM deployments. These were rapidly adopted by other vendors and some of the ideas also ended up having and influence on later versions of ITIL. A great example is the use of a configuration management system (CMS) to avoid the need to maintain service models manually. By implementing a data driven architecture into its product design Interlink Software was able to deliver a low to no maintenance approach to managing SLM & BSM deployments. Also, later in ITIL version 3 we saw "event management" being formally recognised as an important part of Service Operation.

Interlink Software has been developing IT service Management software for the past 17 years.
