Job Description:

  • 8-10 years of experience in database design or maintenance
  • • DB2-LUW 10.1 & 10.5 preferred
  • • DB2 8 for z/OS a plus
  • • Install and configure DB2-LUW databases
  • • Experience with Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) environment
  • • Develop database backup and recovery strategies for the application.
  • • Experience with DB2 on RHEL 6 Linux is highly desirable
  • • Working knowledge of operating system internals (Shell scripting, monitoring, debugging) in Linux environments is required
  • • Experience with data dictionary/repository tools
  • • Experience with automated database migration techniques
  • • Experience with Agile development methodologies is highly desirable
  • • Experience with virtualization in continuous integration environment is highly desirable
  • • Establish / Implement Database User Security design conforming to IT Security Standards
  • • Provide daily development support to application teams including database connectivity, configuration (index creation, database layout, schema changes) and Data migration.
  • • Provide performance monitoring during all phases of the Application’s development lifecycle.
  • • Responsible for trouble shooting Database issues including collecting information through traces and other logging facilities.
  • • Provide database and SQL Tuning expertise through recommendation to application developers, vendors and other core Application teams.
  • • Provide Database configuration for optimal performance including Database Partitioning.
  • Responsible for the administration, optimization, monitoring, tuning and backup/retrieval of enterprise databases.
  • Creating and maintaining user access, space management, database refreshes, and database security.
  • Monitors database for potential problems and creates end-user reports.
  • May write and tune SQL or PL/SQL code.
  • May participate in data migration activities or work with application development teams to provide database access and knowledge.
  • Provides appropriate consulting, interfacing, and training for users.
  • Establishes and maintains policies, standard operating procedures, and associated documentation for user interaction with the database environment.
  • 10+ years experience required.
