Itres Service Team,

Today we (USACE/JALBTCX) had some trouble with sensor 2521. We received a "STOP: PPC Timeout: 100ms, frame # 0, Pii SDRAM, index 79" error. The error was received after loading the configuration file, applying the aperture and confirming the IT upon starting the display. The display would not start. Our particular configuration is 48 band Aperture of 4 and IT of 10.

In order to trouble-shoot we checked all the power and comms connections and replaced the LVDS cable with two spares. We also adjusted the our configuration settings to an IT of 30. We then were able to start the display but we received all bad frames. This lead to investigation of the CASI log file were we noticed a several _fps_processor.cpp#458: PPC Error: Frame Processor Stopped. What does this error mean? Is this an ICU issue or a SHU issue. I'm attaching all of our logs that we collected on multiple boots to the system while trying different configurations and reseating cables. I'm also attaching the our *.ccf file that we use and have used successfully this summer for collection. Could this be a indication that the SHU has malfunction and is beyond field serviceable?

The last time this sensor was used was 8/17/2013 and there were no issues. This sensor has been newly installed with our CZMIL lidar sensor for survey operation in Hawaii. We don't suspect a power issue as the system preformed the same on ground power and aircraft engine power though we have not used the auxiliary ground power supply.

Please let us know at your earliest convenience any thoughts or ideas you may have. We are -4hrs behind MST fyi.

That was my initial thought too but we already tried too spares. I didn't notice any issues with the connections for the cables which is what we usually look for (ie, bent pins). Is it possbile the cards has become lose in the icu/shu?

Hi Joseph

The logs all indicate that the LVDS cable was not ready.
I'd recommend trying another LVDS cable, make sure it isn't damaged, and
that the fittings on both ends are in good shape.
Also make sure all the connections are secure, and that there's no extra
strain on fittings.

There is a very slight chance that this could be the pii or LVDS cards,
though the logs seem to indicate that this is a simple LVDS issue.

Let me know if this fixes the problem, you may need to use multiple LVDS
cables, as its often difficult to externally tell if a cable is damaged.

With best regards,
Stephan
