Howevernothing worked. Btw, it wasn't just a DNS issue, but some Routing issue (ping 8.8.8.8 worked neither). Then I tried to connect via NordVPN and, well, my PC was online again O.o. I'd have never thought that this would work.

Hi, this update is needed especially because of security, I do not think that it was a problem with the driver - often the system needs some time for a full reinstallation and you also have to be patient without acting hastily.

Sometimes it is enough to restart twice .

I have the same problem.

Not sure that what I read here can help because when an update "destroyed" my Ethernet Adapter, it just means, in my case, that we can use the WiFi but not the Ethernet, and in my case, wired PCs are more important than WiFi.

So if there would be somebody less calm and judgmental about how a person's freaking when this happen could find us a solution, that works, because I waited and rebooted many times and the problem started right after an update, 3 weeks ago. I didn't have time to take care of it so, yes, I took the time and stayed calm but still today I only see the 3 curved lines and a dot and this prevent me from using my 1Gbps speed for transfer.

This morning I went to Device Manager, un installed all network adapter and rebooted. They all came back in a minute and I still have the same problem.

My cable is connected directly to the PC, I can see the lights lit at the switch and behind the cable connector on the PC, the Network Settings, Ethernet says UnIdentified network (No Internet). The second Ethernet 3 is not connected.

I'll keep digging but anytime you know about a solution, it'll be appreciated to get a reply.

Open Device Manager and find the category you need from the list (this could be under something like "Internet" or "LAN"). Right-click on the list item for your ethernet and select Update Driver from the drop-down menu. If Windows is unable to find a driver update, check the ethernet card manufacturer's website to see if they have a new driver you can manually download.

Download the necessary drivers using a computer that does have an internet connection, then transfer the driver files to another form of media you can use on the disconnected computer (for example, a USB flash drive). 1. Usually, the driver file is in .exe format. Extract and decompress the file to a folder. (To extract the file, you need an archive utility such as 7zip. If you don't have one, you can download it online.)

I bought the NUC6i7KYK from Amazon in end December and I encountered the same problem during the installation of Windows 10. When I attempted to install the LAN using device drivers of version 21.1 downloaded from Intel website, I got an warning "There is an issue with Microsoft Windows 10 that prevents the Intel Advanced Network Services feature from work correctly. You may install the feature, although you will be unable to create Intel ANS Teams and VLANs. Do you wish to install the feature?" When I clicked 'Yes' to proceed, I saw the "device not install". However, after I downgrade to version 20.x recommended in this thread, I can see the same warning message and successfully complete the installation of the LAN device driver as an interim solution.

I find out the problem. The problem is caused the Windows 10 licence used. The licence that I used for the initial installation was a licence before activation for evaluation purposes. This licence inhibited all Windows and device drivers update, Windows Store download, etc. After I have properly activated the Windows 10 licence, I am able to download all the Windows updates and successfully installed the latest device drivers included the Intel LAN drivers 21.1.

Message, it hangs for a while and then fails. I have no idea why a driver is being released with this problem, I assume it's on Microsoft's end based one what I've read. If I then try and install using Intel's tool I get:

Before trying the fix of installing the old driver, I read this thread and checked the activation status in System - and yes it was Activated. I didn't have an internet connection when I initially installed Windows or tried to install the drivers that came on the mobo disk but I did install a genuine copy of Windows and did connect it afterwards (I maybe wrong assuming an internet connection is needed for activation).

I have the exact same problem, I attempted to install -Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-10 Intel Network Adapter Driver for Windows 10 version 21.1 (the latest version at this time), the install of the driver would hang for 5 minutes, and then fail. Due to this post, I installed -Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-10 Intel Network Adapter Driver for Windows 10 version 20.7.1 and the driver and wired ethernet connection works fine. This is only a temporary solution, what happens when there is a network driver update we need to move to, but it doesn't work? This is unacceptable, please provide a fix for the latest driver.

I upgraded my machine (after a lot of pain) to windows 10. My wireless adapter seems to be working correctly, although the signal in the room is too poor to use the internet via wifi, but the ethernet adapter is not displayed in device manager and I cannot use the ethernet connection.

I tried using the disk that came with the motherboard, but before even attempting any installation of drivers it says that the OS is not supported. The website for my motherboard does not list any drivers for windows 10 (bigfoot LAN seems to be what I am looking for).

I tried using the windows 7 driver: it gets all the way through installation - the adapter temporarily appears in device manager - but right at the end, when it is "registering product", it says a fatal error has occurred and appears to revert the changes.

The update notification said I was eligible for windows 10. However, I cannot find my motherboard here, and although the gigabyte microsite says "the drivers and BIOS on all current GIGABYTE motherboards are ready and optimized for Windows 10", my motherboard is not displayed on the website.

Had a similar problem. I found that on going to the device manager and checking the network adapter it had been disabled by someone; not by me to my knowledge). I then enabled it and the Ethernet connection appeared and works fine. Hope this helps.

This isn't going to be an answer that you may like, but this is most likely what is happening. FYI for anyone not familiar with the term NIC, it means Network Interface Card, or in other words the network adapter.

Answer:Your product does not have a Windows 10 Compatible Driver. I would suggest using any built-in NIC on your motherboard, and/or look at upgrading to a newer NIC with Windows 10 drivers.

Looking at the website you gave, it shows the latest driver for the Killer 2100 NIC is for Windows 8/8.1, and Windows 10 isn't showing up. Also according to Killer Networking ( -downloads) that product is a legacy product that is handled by VisionTek, which doesn't guarantee the NIC will get Windows 10 drivers. You will need to contact VisionTek to check whether they are working on Windows 10 Drivers for the Killer 2100, or have a driver compatible with Windows 10.

Like with every piece of hardware, there has to be a Driver compatible with your version of Windows, and Windows 10 doesn't always work well with Windows 7/8/8.1 drivers. In some cases it doesn't work, doesn't work as expected, or disappears from the Device Manager (not 100% sure if it's uninstalling it or hiding it).

Sort files by modified and the newest two folders will be the driver folder and the software folder. This is easily identified when scrolling through the files as one will have killer network manager application executable and the other will contain the .msi file for the drivers.

This is the tip, open the drivers .msi file with 7zip and extract the files into the directory. Now we have the folder for the executable files, open this folder and there you will find the data1 cabinet file, again using 7zip extract this file into the folder!

It was suggested by @Murph_9000 that Microsoft has since added drivers for these devices in the Windows installer. Hopefully, this is true, but this is the first time I have ever done an install without a basic driver for Ethernet or Wi-Fi available.

Although @Murph_9000 also shows a file structure which would allow access, but on the Z790, the USB drive needs to start a virtual DVD in order to read the file structure, so not sure how that would work during an installation.

For now, there is another really easy fix that works if you just want a local install (I know this isn't answering the question) but grab the latest Windows 11 iso and burn it with the latest version of Rufus. You'll get a couple of options when burning the image to USB. One of those options brings back the 'I don't have internet' during the install process. Works perfectly. There are other fixes, including installing the network drivers from USB, but that's the easiest way for a 'non-network' install that I know of. It might stop working in the future, but for now it's good.
