[ITP HOUSE ISSUE] About Deposits

Hi Mick

How's it going? I'm emailing you to discuss about deposits. I and other roommates on the second floor talked about deposit since there is some money that we need to calculate. Since you're busy with thesis and we don't want to bother you for money, it's better that we just pay rent less as much as the amount of money that we need to be paid back. As you know there is the shared google document called 'ITPHouse 2nd Floor Household', you can check it. The following is the brief summary of the document.

*Money to be paid back in terms of deposits

Youjin:      $2,000 (community deposit) + $175 (paid $1,000 for last month) + $50 + $20 (transaction thing, remember?)  = $2,245

Hanbyu:    $1,650 (community deposit) + $50 = $1,700

Emily:           $200

Andres:     $2,500 (community deposit)  + $100 = $ 2,600

Ilwon:           $200

According to this, we want to calculate it as follows.

Youjin:     $1,500 (for May & June rent) + $ 745 (for April rent, pay $5 more) = $2,245

Hanbyul:  $1,500 (for May & June rent) + $ 200  = $1,700

Emily:          $200

Andres:    $2,500 (for May & June rent) + $100 = $ 2,600

Ilwon:          $200

Also, even though there is some other calculations left, this is the one related to rents. We'd like to consider deposit in this way. Thanks !

Hey guys
I don't exactly understand what the conclusion of the calculations you sent is??? Here is what I was thinking and you can tell me if it is the same. There are 5 months of rent left in the lease (March, April, May, June, July) and the first and last months rent was already paid by everyone so that covers July. For those of you who paid 2 extra months for the "community" deposit, that money will cover May and June rent. This means that March and April rent should be paid as usual. Correct?

As you said there are a few other non-rent calculations to consider separately as well as some small returns for overpaid rent (like Youjin's first and last month payment for example).

Yop you are right, only thing is that we don't wanna bother you paying us back, so just use that money you should give back to us for the other months' rents. For example, perhaps I would pay 550 $ for may's rent.

Thanks for email, Mick. As you can see, all of money we mentioned is related to rent. You can check in the google doc and we already discussed together about this during sandy. I hope you remember. 

Also, I have some returns for overpaid rent. However, this is not only first and last month payment but also community deposits($2,000). For me, this is not small at all. The total amount for return is similar to rent for a month and this is for April. I'm going to pay rent for March for sure.

Yep lets put the rest of the money owed back to everyone toward their april rent then (since may and june are covered already) and pay march as usual.
