We encourage your school counselor to submit supporting documents electronically, if possible. Additionally, you may upload an unofficial high school transcript via your admission portal after application submission. If you are admitted and choose to enroll at Georgia Tech will you be required to submit an official, final high school transcript.
Prospective students will have to furnish materials commonly required for graduate admissions (prior degrees, transcripts, etc.). For full information about application requirements, please visit the Deadlines, Decisions, Requirements, and Guidelines page of this website.
Official transcripts can be delivered in several ways. Most common are those delivered directly to Georgia Tech from your academic institution. Some institutions also provide certified PDFs to alumni for use in graduate applications, as well as sealed, physical transcripts. If you are accepted to OMSCS, you will be asked to verify your unofficial transcript provided at the time of application with an official copy through one of these methods.
You will be asked to provide an unofficial English translation of your transcript AND native language transcripts upon application. If your undergraduate institution does not grade on a 4.0 scale, you do NOT need to convert your GPA. The Office of Graduate Studies does not accept self-converted GPAs and will do their own conversion.
Georgia Tech accepts unofficial transcripts at the time of application. We do not accept screenshots of your grades and courses. If you are admitted, we will then require that you submit your official transcripts. Please see the Graduate Admissions site for more details about the submission of transcripts.
Please note: if you are admitted, you will be required to submit your official transcripts prior to registering for classes. Under no circumstances will a student be permitted to register for classes without an official transcript on file.

As a Ph.D student, you are eligible to transfer up to 30 credit-hours of coursework from a previous, accredited institution. Coursework that counted towards a previous degree is eligible for transfer. Please make an appointment with the AE graduate program manager to discuss the transfer process and get the necessary forms. You will also need to provide a copy of your transcript.
Once the process is complete, the courses will not show up in your DegreeWorks account. Instead, the transfer form will be held on file until you have completed all course requirements. Upon completing all course requirements, a note will be made in your account stating that you have completed course requirements. Any further questions should be directed to ae-gradu...@aerospace.gatech.edu.
For applicants with Bachelors degrees from NAAB accredited universities, a full evaluation of the courses indicated on the bachelors transcript will be completed by the Admissions Coordinator in consultation with architecture faculty. In order to verify if advanced placement is appropriate, the Admissions Coordinator will contact each applicant requesting syllabi and work samples (where applicable) in order to verify that the content of previous courses meet the requirements set forth by NAAB.
For those applicants with degrees other than in architecture, a transcript evaluation will be done to determine whether they have any coursework that may be appropriate for consideration for advanced placement. This is only in the case of those with degrees outside of architecture who may be from a university where a NAAB accredited architecture program exists. In some closely related disciplines in those schools, applicants to the 3.5 year M.Arch program may have taken courses included in the accredited degree program. If there is evidence of this in the transcript provided with the application, the Graduate Admissions Coordinator will contact the admitted applicants for more information, syllabi and possibly work samples to verify placement.
Your recommenders will receive an email, inviting them to complete an online recommendation. If you have any difficulty with the system, contact grad...@gatech.edu. Include your application ID number in the email and a description of your problem.
An unofficial transcript can be either an official electronic transcript or an official paper transcript that you have scanned and uploaded. The document must be printed on the institution's official paper and should include:
Official transcripts from all schools attended after high school are required. If mailed transcripts are requested by Graduate Admissions, they must be in envelopes sealed by the issuing office in order to be considered official when mailed.
The admissions criteria applied in evaluating international applicants are the same as those for U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents. All application materials, including transcripts and recommendations, must be submitted in English in addition to their native language (if not originally in English). All applicants must satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirement of admission to Georgia Tech. If an international applicant is using a TOEFL or IELTS score to satisfy this requirement, please note that admission to this degree requires the minimum scores outlined below.
Georgia Tech does not accept any private evaluation of academic documents, such as those provided by companies like WES. Official transcripts and degree documents should be submitted at the time of application, but unofficial scans uploaded to your application are acceptable for the sake of admission consideration. Official copies can then be provided to us upon an offer of admission, as required.
Official transcripts are delivered directly to Georgia Tech from your academic institution (certified PDFs or sealed, physical transcripts). Other forms or types of transcripts are considered unofficial.
Secure electronic certified transcripts (E-transcripts) should be sent to trans...@grad.gatech.edu. This is a special e-mail address only for secure electronic transcripts delivered via National Student Clearinghouse, eScrip-Safe, Parchment, and Truecopy Credentials. Please check with the registrar or records office at your college/university to see if they provide secure electronic certified transcript service. (Transcripts sent as email attachments are not accepted as official documents.)
You will need to provide a direct English translation of your transcript upon application. If your undergraduate institution does not grade on a 4.0 scale, you should not convert your GPA; simply enter it as it appears on your transcripts/student record.
