@Cool You are probably ten times the Muslim i am, and the efforts you have made to visit the Aimmah, as long as you did not get involve in making Duas to them or things that could affect your tawheed / afterlife, is commendable, and better than anything i have done.

We only know that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has made obligatory on us the obedience & help of Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) & Imams عليهم السلام.

I personally would never criticize anyone who has gone on Ziyarat once, twice, seven or a dozen times. What is the purpose of criticizing Shias who are making Ziyarat, who are worshipping and praying to Allah at the shrines of His (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) beloved Imams AS? On the Judgement Day those Shias could complain to Allah that they were unjustly criticized.

Some people think that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is sitting in Ka'ba (na'udobillah). These types of people have no understanding of معيت of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). They don't know the virtue of the very heart of a believer.

3:97. "Therein are clear signs, the standing place of Abraham, and whoever enters it is secure; and pilgrimage to the House is a duty upon mankind for Allah, who can afford the journey to it; and anyone who disbelieves, then verily Allah is Self-sufficiently independent of the worlds."

So are you advising that the Shias must be the cause of economical gains even for those who hate shias and behead them, and who actively work in favor of imposing economical sanctions on Shia countries?

Is it a surprise then, when having this mindset turns us away from a God centric religion, and instead of making the Imams a means to get to Allah , they become the ends. You rarely hear mention of Allah, rarely hear Quran memorised or recited. Rarely see efforts for Hajj or Umrah.

Those believers who say our Imams (عليه السلام) are our qiblah, salat and sawm are truly closer to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). It is because they realized that to come near to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) we must go trough our Imams (عليه السلام) and Prophets (عليه السلام) who will bring us near to Allah ((سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى)):

Let me elaborate to all those who thinks that Shia undermine hajj or umrah. According to shias, undermining the hajj or umrah is a great sin (من الكبائر). And while reference of the book كامل الزيارات is given in the OP, I am quoting few ahadith from the same book:

And there are many more references. The thing is that there are indeed some deeds whose reward is equal to hajj, hajj & umrah, even equals to 100 hajj & umrah etc. This is according to the books of opponents.

من صلى الغداة في جماعة ثم قعد يذكر الله حتى تطلع الشمس ثم صلى ركعتين كانت له كأجر حجة وعمرة قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:
تامة تامة تامة

This is probably the strongest argument you have brought, and this is a very valid point. In our own ahadith perhaps and Sunni ones (let's avoid calling them our opponents), a deed is often made to be as a reward for Hajj.

However, it is important for us to recognise the cultural context of the current era, where in many cases, the Imams are not the means to Allah, the reflective minarets and flags highlighting the destination. Rather, it is like the wise ones have said; we fixate on the finger pointing at the sky, but forget it is pointing at the splendid grandeur of the moon.

Moreover, many major scholars have expressed this deviation from God centricity, where the Imams who are the beacons, the lights, the way, the truth, the light, have been turned into the ends. We confuse therefore, the means and the ends.

Sayed Kamal Hayderi once recounted a discussion of a top scholar in Iran or Iraq, who when asked by another scholar what to speak about in the lecture series, said to speak about Allah, because he has become Mazloom (barely any mention of him).

It is my sincere belief, that Shia Islam in the 21st century is not a God centric Islam. Sunni Islam is misguided, but far more God centric. The percentage of Sunnis who have performed Hajj or Umrah must be significantly higher, than the Shia. The percentage of Sunni's who have memorised the Quran significantly higher than the Shia. The percentage of Sunnis who have memorised and can narrate direct traditions of the Prophet significantly higher.

ʿUmar was also a man of deep spiritual insight, and on a number of occasions he had a particular view which was subsequently confirmed by Allah through the revelation of a particular verse. This incident is also one of them.

I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Good and bad persons enter upon you, so I suggest that you order the mothers of the Believers (i.e. your wives) to observe veils." Then Allah revealed the Verses of Al- Hijab.

Imam Sadiq is asked what he felt about the claims that Ziyarah for Imam Hussain is equal to a Hajj and Umrah. "We have heard that one of you have said that the reward of visiting Imam Hussain is equal to one Hajj and Umrah". The Imam replied in shock "How difficult this hadith is? No way does the Ziyarah of Imam Hussain reach one Hajj and one Ziyarah".

Hajj is an obligation and a pillar of Islam, while ziyarah is mustahab. The punishment of not performing Hajj is severe, with some hadiths stating that he who does not go to Hajj then "let him die a Christian or a Jew" i.e it is akin to kufr (not in the Fiqhi sense).

A ziyarah may also not be accepted due to one's delaying of Hajj, because Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) only accepts from the mutaqeen, while a person who doesn't go to Hajj is in the highest ranks of Fisq. In fact a person who choose ziyarah over Hajj despite the ability to perform Hajj, has committed a great sin.

I don't see any proof to believe the wajibaat are always more rewarding than the mustahabat though, not in the Holy Qur'an or the Sunnah, but only that one should complete his wajibaat before the mustahabat.

The hadith you brought forth is one solitary hadith, while there are plenty of ahadith mentioning the "x" amount of thawab in Hajj and Umrah for the ziyarah of Al-Husayn (عليه السلام), among them the sahih, like the following:

The divine command which promoted the perfection of Islam and completion of divine blessings (اكملت لكم دينكم و اتممت عليكم نعمتي) is of the utmost importance. Neglecting that divine command could make one "rajeem" like Iblis (L), neglecting that divine command could turn anyone's worship (of the whole life) null & void.
