Hi Alacia,
The segmentation is done on the image space, so the output (a 3d image) will not vary because of the method that is used (manual or semiautomatic).
Instead, the mesh to export (e.g. in a STL file) is a surface that it can be controlled (smooth, decimation, ..) at the mesh display options.
Hope that help.
Regards,

Sebastián

Hi,
I would like to import my 3d image as an STL to 3matics but my final image from itk snap is not smooth. I have used both manual and automatic segmentation but get the same results. I was wondering if there was a way to remesh the final image with itk before importing it. I also keep getting an error message every time I try to save an image no matter what file type I save it as. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the response to my question about smoothing my 3d image.  However, I was wondering if the changes were displayed only when I export or could I preview them. Also, before I was using mimics to do segmentation which allowed me to get a final 3d image to export( see pic 1). I am trying to accomplish something similar to this with ITK Snap (see pic 2) and I was wondering if using the mesh display options would get me there.

Thanks again,
