I bet that everyone (may) knows how powerful Gmail is. It's fast,
easy, manageable, useful, colorful, and hip. To use Gmail as an
iastate email, you need to do these two steps for sending out as
iastate.edu and to receive from
iastate.edu
1) Assign your Gmail to send out under
iastate.edu name - This is
helpful if you want your email sent from the name ___@
iastate.edu
instead of ___@
gmail.com as I'm currently using now. If you don't
understand what I meant, you can see an example here -

2) Forward your iastate email to Gmail - This will make all of your
new emails (new emails only) moving in the Gmail inbox instead.

Assign the out going email under
iastate.edu name. Do follow steps:
1) You need to have a Gmail account. If you don't have one, apply at
http://www.gmail.com
2) After you login to Gmail, go to "Settings" on the top right corner.
3) Select "Accounts" on the top tab.
4) On the "Send mail as:" click "Add another email address"
5) Type in your iastate email address, then wait few minutes to
receive a verification code.
6) Confirm your email then all sets. Now you can send email from
different names.

Forward your iastate email to Gmail. Just follow these simple steps:
1) Login to Acropolis with your NetID (your email) at
http://asw.iastate.edu/
2) Go to "Manager User"
3) Go to "View/Edit your e-mail delivery"
4) Select "Forwarded to email address" and punch your email address
here. You can use any email you want, but Gmail has a benefit that you
can send out with your
iastate.edu that mentioned before
5) Done, all your new iastate emails will start forwarding to your
Gmail.
