TSA email list system

ชี้แจงระบบอีเมลของ TSA ที่ใช้อยู่ตอนนี้นะครับ
(ซึ่งคิดว่าหลายคนคงไม่เข้าใจระบบ)

ปัจจุบัน tsamember ใช้ระบบอีเมลที่เรียกว่า majordomo -- ลองอ่านได้ที่
https://asw.iastate.edu/cgi-bin/acropolis/help?topic=list/properties

ซึ่งอีเมลลิสต์ตัวนี้ จะแตกต่างจากตัวเดิมที่ใช้กันเมื่อ 5 ปีก่อนตรงที่
* คนนอกลิสต์จะส่งเข้ามาไม่ได้
* แนบไฟล์พร้อมอีเมลไม่ได้
* ข้อความที่ยาวมากมาก ก็จะส่งไม่ได้ (>40000 chars)

และอีเมลทั้งหมดจะถูกตีกลับไปที่คนที่ดูแลปัจจุบันทั้งหมด

ซึ่งตอนที่ย้ายระบบอีเมลลิสต์ ได้มี
* ป้องกันปัญหาสแปม และไวรัสสแปม ในช่วงนั้น ซึ่งสมาชิกทุกคนได้
อีเมลสแปมพร้อมไวรัสคนละ 30 ฉบับได้ต่อวัน
(โดยในปัจจุบันปัญหาสแปมทางมหาลัยได้แก้ไขไปได้ระดับหนึ่ง ซึ่งนานๆ
ถึงจะมาทีแล้ว)
* ป้องกันปัญหาพวกขายของ โดยนำอีเมล TSA ไปขายพวกการ์ดโฟน ขายของออนไลน์

สำหรับคนที่ต้องการเพิ่มอีเมลตัวเอง หรือถอดอีเมลตัวเองจากระบบ
ให้ทำการแจ้งผู้ดูแลระบบอีเมลปัจจุบันครับ

ซึ่งสองปีก่อนได้มีการอีเมลหาทุกคนแล้ว แต่คิดว่าทุกคนคงจบไปหมดแล้ว
และคนใหม่ที่มาก็คงมีปัญหากันอีกเลยแจ้งมาให้ทราบครับ

นอกจากนี้ปัญหาที่เคยเจอเช่น
* ใส่อีเมล iastate เข้าในลิสต์ แต่เวลาส่งใช้อีเมลส่วนตัว (gmail,
yahoo, hotmail) แล้วไม่เข้า
และก็มีหลายคนที่มีปัญหาแล้วก็ฝากมาบ่นสองสามต่อ (อย่างตอนนั้นกรณี
เนิร์ส Agronomy Kasetsart)
ถ้ามีปัญหาก็อยากให้แจ้งกับผู้ดูแลตอนนั้นโดยตรง เพราะบ่นต่อๆ
กันไปก็แก้อะไรไม่ได้

Just for your information about the tsamember emailing list. Since
there is no information about this on the Web anymore, this will be
the brief of the list.

Who gets this email from tsa:
* All current Thai students
* Thai faculty
* Some alumni that want to continue receive tsa email

General usage that someone else already mentioned long time ago:
* Usage for sending news and information to everyone in the list
* Absolutely no porn (I really mean this)
* Some forward email is not "appropriate"

Technical issues - (babbling every years doesn't help if it doesn't go
directly to me though)
Since few years ago, I moved the mailing list to the "Majordomo"
system for preventing those spam and malware things, so there are many
restrictions apply:
* Internal use only - email from someone outside the list cannot go
through. if you have two emails or more, you might consider either
tell me to add another of your email or just simply email from the one
that already in the list.
* No long messages - message that is longer than 40kb won' go through.
* No attachment (I don't know why but it's a drawback of majordomo)
* ... I don't know the rest of the restriction are, you can google
"majordomo" and read for yourself if you would like.

If you know someone not in the list, you might tell him/her email
directly to me and I can add to the list (no iastate email required).

สรุปว่า สำหรับทุกท่านที่ต้องการจะแนบไฟล์ document(Word .doc) หรือ
spreadsheet(Excel .xls) รวมทั้ง Presentation(PowerPoint .ppt)
และส่งให้สมาชิก TSA ผ่านทาง tsam...@iastate.edu นั้น
ขอแนะนำให้ใช้ upload ไฟล์ ไว้บน http://docs.google.com จากนั้นเลือก
publish เป็น web page แล้วแนบ url มาทาง email แทน ครับ
