Subject: July 3rd Kayaking! Fireworks!

Hi All,

I'm just catching up with email after a short vacation and there have been many hints, comments, and suggestions concerning tonight's kayaking outing given that Ithaca is putting on a fireworks show for the holiday.

So... with much fanfare, The Modified Plan for the Evening:

We'll bump the schedule back an hour, putting on the water at East Shore Park at 7:30pm, for those needing to gear up at COE, 6:00pm.  We'll play in the last hour and a half of daylight and then watch the show from the lake.

The weather is looking good with calm winds and warmer temperatures, though there is a chance of rain, in which case we'll still paddle blissfully, and a chance of a thunderstorm, in which case we're off the water in a flash... heh, heh, a little lightning drill humor there... um, right, moving on.

So, grab yourself a bite of supper first, make sure you've got an extra layer or two for when the night gets cooler, and bring a bright waterproof light. (If you are gearing up a COE we'll have some for you.)

A white light is required by the Coast Guard for kayaks after dark, and will be important tonight as the lake will be chock full of motorboats.  We'll be staying out of the major traffic lanes but visibility will be a special consideration.

See you all soon,

Ben
