FYI for all the boaters out there:

The newly-found population of hydrilla in Fall Creek reinforces the importance of finding new patches while they are still isolated and sparse, when eradication is still possible.  Get trained to be a hydrilla hunter:THIS Wednesday, Aug. 28, 9:00am – noon or  THIS Thursday, Aug. 29, 9:00am – noon on board the Floating Classroom

Hydrilla
Hunters Logo EDITED 7-25URGENT - Calling All Hydrilla Hunters! On August 8, hydrilla was found in Ithaca’s Stewart Park in a small pond connected to Fall Creek, and in/along the creek adjacent to Newman Golf Course. Heavy rainfall and creek water flow over the next few days may have pushed hydrilla offshore into the lake. Plans are now underway by the experts in the Hydrilla Task Force to control this outbreak. We need YOU to stop hydrilla from taking hold elsewhere.

From now until cold weather arrives, your help is URGENTLY NEEDED – we need you to actively search for hydrilla in the shallow south end of Cayuga Lake,   along the south-end shoreline, and along the east and west shorelines.

Get trained to i.d. hydrilla on a Floating Classroom cruise:

   THIS Wednesday, Aug. 28, 9:00am - noon

    THIS Thursday, Aug. 29, 9:00am - noon

All cruises depart from the FC dock at the Ithaca Boating Center, 435 Old Taughannock Blvd., adjacent to Island Fitness.

Email Bill Foster at  floating...@gmail.com , and include the following information:

        1)  Which cruise(s) you would like to join.

        2)  Contact information (Full Name, Number in Party, Email AND phone number!)

        3)  How many in your group, and ages if not all adult.

        4)  Whether you have this or similar work before.
