Job Description – UNIX Administrator
 
The Client has a vacancy for a UNIX Administrator to support ongoing production maintenance and phased rollout implementation of the HR and Benefits functions of PeopleSoft HRMS for the New York City
 
 
Primary Responsibilities include:
 
This role will be responsible to install, maintain, and configure IBM AIX Operating Systems. Administration tasks will include supporting all AIX operating systems and configurations supporting critical Citywide applications including NYCAPS and related Web applications. This person will work with various teams, but will need to have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
 
 
 
Required Qualifications:
 
-          3 -5 years experience of AIX System Administration
 
-          Strong knowledge of shell scripting and Perl
 
-          Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
 
-          Perform OS upgrades and patch  installations
 
-          Strong knowledge of Server virtualization, micro
partitioning, and Dynamic LPAR
 
-          Strong Knowledge of HACMP Architecture, configuration and
implementation
 
-          Support Backup and Recovery and Performance and Tuning of AIX
OS.
 
-          Ability to plan and prioritize work and meet project
deadlines
 
-          Must be self motivated and work well with other groups
 
-          Experience with monitoring tools such as BMC Patrol
 
-          Strong understanding of EMC Symmetrix SAN environments and
Veritas Netbackup.
 
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
·         Working with an enterprise wide, large scale implementation
 
·         Experience working with PeopleSoft Implementations in a
government or civil service environment.
 
·         Excellent Communications skills (Oral and written),
interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
 
·         Experience working within a matrix environment
 
 
 
Education:
 
Bachelor's or Masters degree in a technical/business discipline or 2-4 years practical technical/business experience
