I have a problem with the launch time of a shell within iterm2. I load
the application, a blank window appears, and it takes 20-30secs before
the shell launches. The same thing happens every time I subsequently
launch a new shell (new window or new tab).

I've read this could be due to something in my terminal prefs
(.cshrc/.bashrc) that's causing problems, but after commenting out
everything in my .cshrc file, it still takes the same time to load.
What's confusing is that my normal mac terminal app takes <1sec to
load.

Does anyone know why a shell in iterm2 is so slow to launch compared
to the normal mac terminal?

I am running iterm2 on a new mac laptop with plenty of resources, so
it's not my computer holding things up.

Oddly enough I have the same problem. Its been going on for a long time-did you by any chance install bash via macports or homebrew?

Thanks

That seems to have improved things for me. The funny thing is that I had stumbled on that article before-but I ignored it because the files I had in the asl directory were pretty small

Thanks
