Dear iTerm2 developers,

I use iTerm2 on a daily basis and love it very much. There is only one
thing I miss about Mac Terminal.
There I downloaded a very nice apple script online from
http://www.entropy.ch/blog/Mac+OS+X/2008/06/27/Terminal-Tricks-%E2%80%9Cterm%E2%80%9D-revisited-with-tabs.html
Basically, with it, in Terminal, I can type one command to open a new
Tab in the same dir as where I am working.
This is a huge time saver, because mostly this is what I want,
probably even more so
when splitting panes. This sounds like a better default location than
'home'. Actually, I think 'home'
is rarely when we want to go when openning a tab or pane; besides,
'home' is easily reachable via
a short command 'cd'.

I sincerely hope this feature will be implemented soon. Thanks a lot.

You can do this already:

Preferences > Profiles > General. Change "Working Directory" to
"Advanced Configuration", press Edit to the right and change "Working
Directory for New Tabs" to "Reuse previous session's directory".
