I hope this is the correct way to post to this group; the web interface on Google groups did not have a 'New Topic' button. It is possible that I need to be added to a list of members that can post…

I'm trying iTerm2 out for the first time.

My shell is set to xterm-256colors as is my iTerm session.
In emacs, I'm in org-mode. I have set left-alt to +Esc, as per the recommendation of almost every source I researched.

The problem is this:

For some functions left-alt works as expected. Typing '<left-alt> RETURN' results in the expected behavior: a new headline is created. But '<left-alt> ARROW-DOWN' does not work as expected, while 'ESC ARROW-DOWN' does. I checked Terminal.app to see if the expected behavior is there, and it functions as expected.

Is there a way to configure <left-alt> to behave consistently?

Thanks!

Avery

PS: If this is a bug, I'd be happy to send diagnostic information…

Try going to prefs>profiles>keys and select "Terminal compatibility" from the popup menu under the key mappings.
