Missing + button in upper right (open default) in 3.6.1?

There used to be a "+" button in the upper right to open a default terminal. After upgrading to 3.6.1 the "space" for that button still exists but there is no "+" there and clicking it does nothing. Is it just me? Or did the "+" break in 3.6.1?
