Hello,

I'm hoping someone here can give me a hand resolving an issue I'm having with iTerm2. I'm trying to use the tmux integration with my hotkey window, so that my hotkey window automatically attaches to my main tmux session. The issue I'm having is that when I launch the iTerm2 application, it tries to restore the hotkey window and creates a new one, so I get the Cannot Attach: This instance of iTerm2 is already attached to this session error every time, unless I'd previously closed the hotkey window by hand (i.e., by pressing CMD+W before quitting the app previously). I've tried a number of solutions to this, including creating different default profiles, trying to configure iTerm2 not to open any windows at startup, and creating blank window arrangements and using those instead of the default system window restoration behaviour. None of these seem to solve the problem. I'd like to leave window restoration on in macOS, as other than this issue it's my desired behaviour.

Am I missing something with my configuration? Is it possible for me to configure iTerm2 to just... not use the system default window configuration, and instead open no windows at startup? Is there some way that I could configure the tmux/Hotkey window profiles differently, such that it doesn't try to create multiple instances of those windows?

Thanks in advance for your help

I’m not quite sure how to reproduce what you’re describing. Would you mind filing an issue and attach your plist file as described in the new-issue template? https://iterm2.com/bugs
