Hi,

I configured iTerm to use the global hotkey Cmd+Enter to open a Terminal in the upper desktop. I configured the Profile "Hotkey Window" to have transparency. However, if I open the Hotkey-Terminal, the window has no transparency.

If I open another tab in this window though, my configured transparency setting for the Hotkey Window-Profile is applied. It seems the first tab somehow isn't in the Hotkey profile or something.

Any clues on that?

TIA,
Frank

Most people experience the opposite—new tabs use the default profile.

Is it possible the first tab was created with another profile and keeps getting restored when you restart iTerm2? You can check its profile from the Edit Session panel (it'll be highlighted in the list of profiles). If closing all the tabs and re-creating the hotkey window by pressing the hotkey does not yield a tab with the hotkey window's profile (as defined in Prefs > Keys) then please open an issue https://iterm2.com/bugs and I'll dig deeper.

Actually it's the other way around here - the first tab is the
"Hotkey Window"-Profile and all tabs opened after that are in the
Default-profile.

Sorry for the confusion,so yes, I experience the same as most people.

In Prefs > Keys, the Hotkey profile is set to "Hotkey Window". I also
tried to close all tabs/windows and restarted iTerm to make sure nothing
got restored.

Thanks,
Frank

Sounds like you want Cmd-T to open the hotkey window when you're in that profile. You can just add a key binding to prefs > profiles > (select hotkey window profile) > keys for Cmd-T to use the action "New Tab with Profile" and the profile "Hotkey Window".
