I need to send text that includes a "\a" with a text snippet. This doesn't seem to work because it keeps translating the \a to a bell. Is there a way to "escape" the \ in that sequence?

This has turned up a bunch of bugs in escaping, which are fixed by commit 211a006f4.

Newly created snippets will treat \a as bell and \\a as backslash + a. Existing snippets will retain their behavior.
