In all versions I've tried, the tmux windows started with tmux -CC and then using the tmux integration all have the annoying habit of all changing size if I change the size of one of them. I have looked for a setting to turn this off but haven't found anything (tmux 1.9a, iterm2 2.1->2.9)

am I overlooking something obvious here?

Nope, this is a limitation of how tmux works, since it still assumes all windows will be displayed within a containing terminal.

That's a a pitty.. so close and yet so far..  it makes tmux mode basically unusable.

Yes, this is an unfortunate limitation of tmux. For users who have a bunch of tabs in one window, it works OK, but I agree the multi-window case is pretty bad.

You could attach to multiple sessions (run tmux -CC twice), and that would allow you to have different window sizes. Kind of cumbersome, though.
