Cycle tabs forward/backward doesn't work as expected

I have an iTerm2 window and then I create two more tabs by right clicking and selecting New Tab -> Default. Now if I press Ctrl+Tab, for some reason it cycles tabs backwards. Then if I try fiddling around with cycling tabs forward and backward it will suddenly change the order for one of Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab.

I checked under iTerm2 -> Preferences -> Keys -> Key Bindings and 'Cycle Tabs Forward' and 'Cycle Tabs Backward' are mapped to Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab respectively. What's causing this weird behavior?

I'm using iTerm2 build 3.4.8 on MacOS 11.5.
