Hi - absolutely love iterm2.

I was using it using the global hotkey of cmd+esc in Snow Leopard just
fine (after I kicked front row out of the picture) but now on a new
Lion machine, I can't even set the cmd+esc shortcut.

I'm hoping this is just a bug and not some system level thing that you
can't do anymore?

Cheers,

Hi Remy,

cmd + esc is the keybinding that i use (to toggle the Visor-style
console mode), and I'm on 10.7 / Lion.

(If it helps, I had Snow Leopard w/ iTerm2 build 720, which is when I
set cmd + esc as my global hotkey. Then I upgraded to Lion on launch
day. This morning I upgraded to iTerm2 build 727.)

Yeah, on my old laptop - I upgraded to Lion and the key binding remained.

But if you remove that binding and try to add it back in - you can't (or if like me install on a fresh Lion machine).

By the way - if you use cmd+esc already - I strongly suggest you don't remove the binding because you can't get it back! Or at least I'm hoping the smart folk behind iterm2 can fix it :)

It looks like in Lion, the OS swallows up Cmd-Esc before it gets to the application. It works as a hotkey because we register to receive a specific hotkey, and apparently that takes precedence over whatever the OS is doing.

Anyone figured out how to use the cmd+esc work on a vanilla Lion?

So I figured out a hack to get cmd+esc working again in Lion for
iTerm2.

Uploaded a screencast, but it boils down to open your
com.googlecode.iterm2.plist and change:

- HotkeyChar = 27
- HotkeyCode = 53

Screencast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whsm5Som9gM

All is well again in Stupid OS X Lion Land.

Remy,

I have a slight problem with the screencast Remy posted.

After setting the HotkeyChar to 27
and HotkeyCode to 53, I can use Control-Escape, but not
Command-Escape. How do I get it to use Command-Escape
instead?

Thank you for putting up an awesome screencast yet again.

Cheers.
Yesudeep.

Hi Remy,

Nevermind about that. I figured it out.

These are the actual settings required:

HotkeyChar = 27
HotkeyCode = 53
Hotkey = YES
HotkeyModifiers = 1048840

The problem was my initial hotkey used the ^ modifier.
So I had to change the initial hotkey to say Command+=
and then set the hotkeychar and hotkeycode configuration values.

Cheers!
